The benefits of development are often unevenly distributed, leading to social and economic inequalities. This can create unrest and hinder progress towards a sustainable future. Global Warming: The average global temperature is rising due to greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from burning fossil fuels. This warming disrupts weather patterns, leading to more extreme weather events like heat waves, droughts, floods, and wildfires. Sea Level Rise: Melting glaciers and thermal expansion of oceans are causing sea levels to rise, threatening coastal communities and ecosystems. Ocean Acidification: As the oceans absorb more CO2, they become more acidic.
