Faidi Chain Tensioner is an affordable product developed to help improve the safety of a motorcycle chain during normal use. It prevents the chain from derailing off the rear sprocket by automatically adjusting the chain tensions as the chain elongates.

Kenya as a developing nation has seen a steep rise in numbers of motorcycles on its road as a significant mode of transport. However, accident numbers have also been on the rise and yet some are attributed to the motorcycle design itself. During normal chain use, the drive chain elongates needing frequent visits to the mechanic for readjustment. It is common for most riders to ignore this important procedure as it might be needed at least two to three times every week. Skipping this step can can the chain to fall off the rear driving gear/ sprocket, lock the rear tyre and can be fatal. Faidi Chain tensioner is made from durable material yet affordable and can automatically adjust the chain tension automatically during chain use, therefore leading to improved safety in chain driven motorcycle.

1. Faidi Chain Tensioner Project aims at reducing the number of deaths caused by motorcycle accidents in Kenya, as a result of derailment of the chain from the rear gear sprocket. 2. It also aims at reducing the cost of the chain tensioner as the available tensioner are highly priced making them unaffordable to the common citizen. 3. To improve the safety of a chain driven motorcycle. 4. To create jobs/ poverty reduction for the as the product is designed, assembled and sold within the country.

Imported chain tensioners found in online markets e.g Jumia. They are however made of a fragile material (aluminum) and very costly. What makes Faidi Chain Tensioner stand out is that it is made from mild steel ensuring durability and is very affordable
