I would like to establish a fashion brand/clothing line that will use environmentally friendly materials & production methods. A conscious fashion line which will consider environmental and social impact at every stage of the production process.

It is the year 2024, it is time that the world considered Sustainable Fashion! fashion brand/clothing line that will use environmentally friendly materials & production methods. A conscious fashion line which will consider environmental and social impact at every stage of the production process. A clothing line that will be ethical, responsible and also circular. Meaning that my clothing pieces are regarded as slow fashion, items that can be used over and over again (timeless) & high quality, this would ensure that consumers are encouraged to buy less, buy better & keep better. Everything else in the world is going GREEN so why not fashion? A sustainable clothing line means that the material used is sustainable such as organic cotton, plant-based fabrics and even recycled materials. Conscious, innovative and transparent is the main theme of the clothing line in which innovative methods are used in production to reduce environmental footprint, material source is known etc.

01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?

The main problem that a sustainable fashion line would fix is reducing the significant environmental degradation that is already caused by the fashion/clothing industry such as pollution; specifically water pollution from textile production. Another problem that this line would solve is resource depletion, whereby resources such as water, energy and other raw materials are conserved because sustainable practices are adopted. Thirdly, it reduces the use of unhealthy materials, these are materials which are eco-friendly and do not harm the environment or jeopardize human health. Furthermore, it would address unethical labor practices , ensuring that workers work in environments that do not put their health in danger and ensure fair wages, labor practices and no exploitation. The fast fashion industry is all about 'take, make, dispose', having a sustainable fashion clothing line would ensure that consumers buy quality timeless clothing thus minimizing unsustainable consumer behavior.

Sustainable fashion provides a positive environmental impact, meaning that it contributes to a low carbon footprint, minimizing waste whilst also promoting the use of eco-friendly materials. Secondly, sustainable fashion offers longevity because of the high quality materials used, that will eventually lead to less wastage. Innovation is encouraged profusely in sustainable fashion, it encourages creativity and basically "the world becomes your oyster". There is no limit in designs. For me, most importantly, consumer awareness is guaranteed. The world becomes a better place if people are aware about the impact of the things the consume and wear. And with that, they will want to do better and contribute to a greener, sustainable future.

The biggest beneficiary of this project would be planet Earth. Another target for the project would be people who environmentally conscious and are aware of the social impact the fashion choices have. Furthermore, women and families in which will benefit in the form of employment which the project will bring,

My project will ensure that it creates employment, it has the ability to employ a large number of people and this will feed many families.

Sustainable fashion enables people to wear organic clothing, this will contribute to their overall health and wellbeing. Sensitivity will be a thing of the past. Baby clothes made from sustainable materials is hypoallergenic.

In future the project wishes to have a sewing academy in which it will teach people about sewing, so yes it will eventually contribute to providing lifelong learning opportunities.

The main aim for the project is to at least hire 70% women, and be able to teach younger girls how to sew, design clothes and make clothing patterns.

The project will be very conscious of the natural resources it utilizes by limiting over use and misuse of water. Saving water through rain water harvesting and having Jojo tanks.

The world has not fully grasped sustainable fashion as yet, there has not been any mass production of clothing that will be gentler to the earth and reduce wastage and pollution. A clothing line like this would open the world to welcoming green fashion, the pieces will be timeless whilst fashionable at the same time.

05.09 Qui sont vos principaux potentiels concurrents et qu'est-ce qui vous différencie d'eux ?

In South Africa, I do not have much competitors but globally yes. What makes the brand stand out is that it will incorporate South African culture into the designs.
