Our initiative is founded in creating value across agri-value chain to combat food insecurity in Namibia. By establishing local ownership and economic opportunities by stimulating youth participation in agriperneurship thus fulfilling SDG1,2 and SDG 8.

On 22nd of May as reported by the Namibian, our president declared a national state of emergency due to the worst drought the country has experienced in 100 years. Which has led to severe food insecurity and water scarcity. Thus, necessitating a sustainable innovative solution that increases horticulture yield, water efficient and agri-systems that are not vulnerable to weather conditions. The rationale of the project seeks to ensure food security for all Namibians by building mutually beneficial agri-ecosystem through a model that stimulates youth agri-perneurship. By adopting hydroponic systems and enhancing agricultural productivity, improving food security, and promote sustainable and efficient use of limited resources. In order to build capacity of activities we would be partnering with unemployed/youth across the agri-value chain, smallholder farmers, support local and regional smallholder farmers to achieve yield increases.

The main probelm we are trying to solve is food insecurity.Food insecurity in Namibia is affects and impacts all members of society from varying socio-economic backgrounds. The convergence of High youth unemployment rates and economic instability equally contribute to food insecurity. With The agriculture sector playing a very important role in the livelihoods of the Namibian population with about 70% of the population depending directly or indirectly on agriculture for their livelihood (FAO, 2022) With a large population depending directly on subsistence farming. Making farmers vulnerable to climatic changes, reducing food production during drought periods.

Based on market trends and data from Agronomics board, National turnover amounted 87 million with investment opportunities in horticulture as it is and import intensive industry Agriculture in Namibia contributes to 5.01 per of GDP, with 70 percent representing livestock sector. With efficient, sustainable investment agriculture and agritech, this could provide lucrative increase agricultural contribution to national GDP Establishing hydroponic farms can create jobs and stimulate local economies. It can also encourage innovation and skill development in high-tech agricultural practices. Hydroponic systems can be more resilient to climate change impacts, as they are less reliant on external weather conditions. This stability is crucial for maintaining food security in the face of increasing climate variability.

The beneficiaries are 3 fold. Thus initiative seeks to serve under served community and sector (agri-sector) Through incubator and accelerator programs by equipping the youth with agriperneurship resources, mentoring, training , capacity building and funding . A Young African Leaders Innitiative (YALI) Alumni, social entrepreneur and cluster member of AU WYFEI Business and Entrepreneurship Development. I have an academic background in Chartered Accountacy (Bachelors of Commerce; Chartered Accountant -Nelson Mandela University). A founder of Loshia Naturals, which was awarded top 24 by GoToPitch (Tokyo) and Startup Namibia. As well as a facilitator of youth-centered social intiatives that are geared towards stimulating youth agriperneurship participation across the agricultural value chain and Business and Entrepreneursship capacity building workshops for youth in business. Relatively in their infancy. partner Kapango, is an occupational health student, relative experience in the content creation space.
