Our project, NS Solar & Powertech Innovations - Namibia, aims to electrify Oshipumbu village, a remote area in northern Namibia. The initiative is part of the Oshipumbu Smart Village Pilot Project and will be implemented in three phases. Phase 1 involves setting up a small-scale solar-powered charging station, offering portable battery kits and light kits to residents. Phase 2 will electrify 15 local commercial units/shops using a micro-grid, enabling owners to pay a minimal tariff for electricity. Phase 3 will provide power to a community building planned to house an elementary school and health center. The project will employ innovative solar technology and community training, aiming to enhance quality of life, education, and economic growth while promoting sustainability and reducing carbon emissions.

The main problem we are trying to solve is the lack of electricity in Oshipumbu village, which impacts essential services and quality of life. The primary beneficiaries are the village residents who currently lack reliable electricity access, including students who will benefit from enhanced educational resources through the RACHEL server tool, shop owners who will have access to affordable and sustainable electricity, and the broader community that will gain from improved healthcare and educational facilities. Additionally, the project will empower local community members by providing training and employment opportunities in solar technology installation and maintenance, fostering economic growth and social well-being in the region.

Holds a Bachelor’s degree from Zimbabwe University of Science & Technology, registered with the Namibian Council of Architectural & Quantity Surveyors. Mr. Phillemon Andreas: A dedicated Electrician with a passion for community empowerment. Holds a N3 trade certificate from the Namibia Institute of Mining & Technology and serves as the technical foreman overseeing various technical activities. Mr. Laurentius Beatus: Brings over two years of experience in Solar home system installations, contributing valuable expertise in solar energy solutions. Mr. Immanuel Shipombo: An Electrical & Mechanical Engineer, graduate from Namibia University of Science & Technology. Registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia, Mr. Shipombo coordinates technical activities and brings expertise in engineering.
