Describe your project or startup in a few words
Grow fresh food anywhere! Our mobile hydroponic farms use minimal water & bring local, sustainable produce to communities.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Our project tackles two critical SDGs: Clean Water (SDG 6) and Affordable & Clean Energy (SDG 7). Limited access to fresh produce and unsustainable farming practices demand change. Enter our solar-powered movable hydroponic farms! These self-contained units bring hydroponics (growing plants without soil) directly to communities, requiring minimal water compared to traditional methods. Local production minimizes transport emissions, promoting responsible consumption (SDG 12). Impact: Fresh, Local Food: Communities gain access to high-quality, locally grown produce. Reduced Footprint: Water conservation & solar power minimize environmental impact. Community Focus: Ideal for urban areas, schools, & restaurants seeking sustainable ingredients. By empowering communities with local food production powered by renewable energy, we're not just changing the way we grow food, we're cultivating a brighter future for our planet and our health.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
In 2024, Nigeria faces a complex web of challenges: rising inflation, water scarcity, and high food costs threaten food security. Our solution: solar-powered movable hydroponic farms! These self-contained units bring hydroponics (growing food without soil) directly to communities. Compared to traditional methods, hydroponics requires significantly less water, addressing water scarcity. Additionally, local production reduces reliance on long-distance transportation, lowering food spoilage and overall costs for consumers. High Food Costs: Local production helps stabilize prices by reducing reliance on potentially expensive imported food or long-distance transportation of produce. Food Insecurity: Increased access to fresh produce, especially in remote areas, combats malnutrition and promotes healthier diets. Water Scarcity: Hydroponics uses significantly less water, preserving this precious resource for other needs.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Imagine fresh fruits and vegetables popping up right in your neighborhood! Our solar-powered mobile farms bring hydroponics (growing plants without soil) directly to communities. This means more nutritious food on your table, especially in remote areas where fresh produce is scarce. Not only that, but these farms use way less water than traditional methods, helping to conserve this precious resource in Nigeria. Plus, by growing food locally, we cut down on transportation emissions, making our solution kinder to the environment. The rising costs of food are a worry for everyone, but our mobile farms can help! Local production means fresher food at fairer prices. Movable Hydroponics: a brighter future for healthy eating in Nigeria
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Our awesome solar-powered carts bring this magic directly to the community. No more struggling to find healthy food, especially for families in remote areas and kids who need good nutrition. Schools can even get involved, teaching students how to grow food sustainably while enjoying fresh produce in their lunches! Freshness is key for restaurants too. Our carts provide a constant supply of local ingredients, meaning tastier food for you and potentially lower prices. Even the Nigerian military benefits! These carts can be set up at bases, giving soldiers access to fresh produce no matter where they're stationed. This keeps them healthy and happy. Our project works hand-in-hand with the government's plan to make sure everyone in Nigeria has enough food. These carts can be part of programs that help people get healthy food and learn good eating habits. The big goal? Fresh, affordable, and eco-friendly food for all Nigerians.

02.01.01 My project contributes to the No poverty goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.01.02 No poverty - Justification
Food on the table, money in the pocket: These farms mean fresh produce is readily available, even in remote areas. This helps families eat healthier and avoid malnutrition, a big problem that can keep people stuck in poverty. Plus, less money goes towards groceries, freeing up resources for other needs like clothes or school supplies. Jobs for the community: Building, fixing, and running these mobile farms creates new jobs right in the neighborhoods that need them most. This puts money directly into people's pockets and helps boost the local economy. Saving water, saving money: These clever farms use way less water than traditional methods, which is a big deal in places where clean water can be scarce and expensive. Less water used means more money saved for families. On top of that, since the food doesn't have to travel far to reach people, it's often cheaper too!

02.12.02 Responsible consumption and production - Justification
Mobile farms empower communities to grow their own food locally, instead of relying on large-scale supermarkets and long journeys for their groceries. This creates a more localized food system, where people can connect with the source of their food and support local producers. It's a win-win for everyone: fresher food for communities and a boost for the local economy! So, mobile farms aren't just about growing healthy food, they're about cultivating a culture of responsible consumption and production in Nigeria. With mobility, community focus, and a commitment to sustainability, our mobile farms are poised to become the game-changers in the fight for a food-secure future for Nigeria.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
As someone who participated in the Millennium Fellowship, I've always been passionate about empowering young women. That's why I'm so excited about ENgirls, a program I launched to specifically address the challenges girls face when it comes to entrepreneurship. We all know our community is brimming with talented young women with incredible ideas. But sometimes, the path to turning those ideas into reality can seem daunting. ENgirls aims to bridge that gap by equipping girls with the skills and confidence they need to become successful entrepreneurs. ENgirls is more than just a set of workshops. It's a supportive network where girls can learn from experienced mentors, many of whom are inspiring female entrepreneurs themselves. These mentors can offer valuable guidance and become role models for the girls on their entrepreneurial journeys. The program doesn't stop there. ENgirls also fosters a strong network of peers for the girls. This network provides a sense of belonging and coll
