Describe your project or startup in a few words

Everything Ice is based in a township called Mpumalanga township (Hammarsdale) under the eThekwini municipality. We make and sell our own ice, we work on a small scale for now, hoping to expand. We have 2 people working with us at the moment.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Everything Ice is an ice company that makes and sells around the community of Mpumalanga township (Hammarsdale). We really hope to expand so we create more job opportunities. For now we work at home, we do not have a work space, but as the business grows we hope to be able to move. We don't have transportation to deliver the product(ice) which is very difficult for us to get and secure clients because we use the meter taxi services and they can be too much for a client as the client is the one who pays for their delivery. At the moment we only have 1 type of ice. But we do wish to have other types as well, like crushed ice and dry ice. For now we have a machine and only 1 big chest freezer for storage. At the moment our location is not that great because is not close by the street so that's why we need to move to a place where there are people who can see the place. And also having our own space would enable us to have more equipment to keep on property.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

By starting the business we were trying to make is easy for people to get ice in the township and not go to town to stock ice, more especially people with business that needs ice, like bottle stores, tarvans, bars etc. And also people have parties, braais, chilling at the parks, basically anyone who uses ice. We wanted to make it easy for them to access the product. And also the job creation, as the business grows we can be able to hire more stuff and people would have jobs But the main problem we would like to solve in our company is get our own space to work, more equipment and some mentorship on how yo grown and manage the business as well as financial aspects on how to handle money wisely.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

Our product last longer. It's helps to keep things chilled, more especially with loadshedding, people bought ice for home use to store meat and other things that needs the fridge. Value for money, we have more product in the pack, you can use them throughout the day. Or use half and keep the other half for another time

For our product it's everyone who needs ice. But more especially Bars, taverns, clubs, garages, people who have gatherings, any type of gathering

The other owner of the business is my Grandmother. She helped start the business and she understands how everything works, from the machine to the delivery. She understands most things that happen within the business

There are some companies that are in Durban, New Germany and Pinetown. When we initially starter it was for the people of Mpumalanga township. So what makes us stand out is the quality of our product, and the service you get from us. Also the conveniency that comes with it. We do have challenges as we go along but we always manage the situation better.
