Black farmers and female farmers will have the same market opportunities. In 2019, the agricultural sector in South Africa was faced with an outbreak of FMD (Foot & Mouth Disease) which negatively impacted on smallholder black farmers. The lack of industry regulatory bodies and measures to mitigate the sector forced farmers into debt and the loss of cattle. We recognized this issue and sought to develop an application to regulate livestock movement to curb disease outbreaks and provide a market valuation for farmers through e’Sibsyeni AgriTech.
