Describe your project or startup in a few words
Simplify logistics for equipment-hire industries
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
A marketplace designed to streamline and simplify daily operations within the logistics industry. Our beachhead market is currently focused on waste management, more specifically the skip-bin industry in South Africa. We provide a convenient way for end users to order skip-bins, while companies have advanced software to manage and track their rental product and plan their logistics. The goal is to empower smaller enterprises. Our platform enables them to handle workloads with enhanced efficiency and effectiveness, equipping them to scale up.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
A close friend mentioned the logistical challenges faced by a skip/waste management company he knew. Intrigued, we decided to investigate further to understand the extent of these challenges and whether other similar companies were experiencing the same issues. Through our research, we discovered that most companies still use handwritten planning methods and are very reluctant to change to computer systems - even though these computer systems offer many benefits. There is a particularly evident absence of systems to track and plan orders, manage deliveries, and optimize route planning for fuel efficiency and overall operational efficiency within small businesses like skip/waste management companies.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
FleetWise simplifies equipment rental operations and logistics, by allowing end customers to manage their orders and change as they see fit. This allow automation and innovation in an industry that has struggled to use newer technologies. FleetWise also helps with the waste management sector and contributes to sustainable growth.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

06.08 Justification for my startup
We are trying to digitize an entire industry, by creating an all in one platform that improves the way the equipment rental industry operates.
06.09 Competitive Analysis
A competitor for the marketplace is United Rentals (North America, Europe and Australia).United Rentals is an equipment rental company with a large ordering platform. United Rentals owns multiple equipment types and rents these to customers. A local competitor for the marketplace is Dashwaste (South-Africa). They provide an online ordering platform for skip-bins. Dashwaste has its own fleet so they fulfill the order themselves. If they are not capable of delivering they would outsource these orders to other companies. We think we offer a unique selling proposition as an all-in-one software solution in Africa. Unlike our competitors, we recognize the importance of catering to the unique context of South African businesses, including factors such as app accessibility in different locations and user experience. We understand that factors like LSM measurements (Living Standards Measure) and digital literacy directly influence how users interact with a system.
