Describe your project or startup in a few words

I am a passionate chef who loves pastry and chose to specialise in it. I bake cakes for clients and also make mini desserts for functions. Seeing that young kids admire my work, my current aim is to open short classes where they get to learn and have fun.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

The plan is to create a work station with the space I have in my yard to use it to expand my cake business but also hold occasional classes for the kids in my community where they get to express their creativity and have them occupied with something as fun as making something big out of a couple of ingredients. Currently I cater desserts for functions like tea parties. Church functions and birthday celebrations, desserts ranging from mini cheesecakes to peppermint tarts. Currently I bake celebration cakes for people in my neighbourhood, the goal is to expand and expand my business so people in further ranges can know and support my business. I am also hoping to later start a ready dessert range in clear cups to introduce into stores near me for those that want a cute little set of desserts to add to the table.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Marketing my business out of my area, I have recently thought about approaching schools to cater for their conferences. Send proposals and few samples. I believe working with establishments like schools will help expand my brand. Capital is another problem as my business is running just enough to restock and develop new recipes and ideas. There isn’t much to save as it does not make money everyday but every time someone wants to order for hosting or birthday celebrations. With capital I believe the business will take a big step forward because I believe the ideas I have are what people that don’t have much time on their hands would love. Moms that want their kids to be busy with activities after school would love occasional classes.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

The first benefit is that people will have treats to buy that are not far and of a reasonable price . Benefit number two is that kids that are interested in baking would have the opportunity to explore it before they finish school and it will keep kids in my community occupied with empowering activities rather thank wasting their time on things that are distracting most youth. Third benefit will be creating jobs for people in my area because once the business expands to the direction I want it to, I will require to employ people and have team with the same goal of serving good treats .

My target market is on everyone that hosts once in a while, everyone that loves sweet treats. People that don’t have much time in their hands that would rather buy sets of desserts for their guests. Lastly the youth that will be interested to get an experience of making treats and have interest in culinary field

Part of the idea is to create job opportunities in my area through the service I will be providing as soon it expands. People will be purchasing these products and reasonable prices as I not planning to use packaging that is highly priced and that is not friendly to the environment.

I’m in a industry that has a lot of competition but I stand firm with my business and believe the existence of competition will be something that pushes me to do well and keep up with the customers wants and needs
