Stayfresh Laundromat will be an establishment with coin-operated washing machines and dryers for public use; and will also offer dry-cleaning services. We will be located in Esikhawini, a township on the North coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Stayfresh Laundromat will be an establishment with coin-operated washing machines and dryers for public use; and will also offer dry-cleaning services. We will be located in Esikhawini, a township in the Northcoast of KwaZulu-Natal, bringing you affordable and convenient laundry services. We will cater for those that don’t have machines at home but would like to wash for themselves, to those that just want to have their washing done for them. For those that choose to wash for themselves it’s a matter of just loading their clothes into the washing machine then closing it and inserting a few coins. One the the clothes are done and should they wish to also dry them then they would move them into the frying machine then closing and insert the required fee, a few coins again, into the machine and dry. Should they further wish to have them ironed, that would be an additional fee charged to them and this service would be done by the in-house staff.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Assisting the community with doing their washing, especially those that don’t have the time to and those that don’t have the facility to at home. This would also assist local institutions & business eg. hospitals, clinics, companies that required staff uniform washed etc, too with their laundry services. At Stayfresh Laundromat we have identified a lack of competition in the market in the area we aim to serve.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

The main advantage of using our services for our selected communities would be bringing them convenience right to their "doorstep". Our services will save people the time and hassle of doing their laundry in-house. This will also be beneficial for businesses that do not have on-site laundry facilities. Cost-efficiency, is another advantage of our services, because we will eliminate the need to purchase and maintain expensive laundry equipment for the communities we aim to serve. Environmental-friendliness is another advantage of our services, because our laundromat will use high-efficiency washers and dryers that use less water and energy than traditional home appliances.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

Stayfresh Laundromat’s target beneficiaries are your local township residents and businesses that all require their laundry done. This could be local residents who come in for their weekly washing to the local business washing staff uniform or table cloths; and even the local hospital’s requiring bedding washed.

06.08 Justification for my startup

Local laundromats only offer the service of having locals drop off their laundry and they wash it, and optionally dry and/or iron it for them. They do not offer the services of locals doing their washing for themselves. They also do not have coin- operated washing machines and dryers. This only offers laundromat services and an affordable price. To have this kind of an innovative service offered in a township, especially Esikhawini, would be the first of its kind. The efficiency that Stayfresh will bring to local businesses and residents I believe will surpass what is offered to the community.

Our potential competitors are the local laundromats in town and the ones already existing within the township of Esikhawini. However what makes Stayfresh Laundromat stand out would be offering the service of coin-operated washing machines and dryers at an affordable without locals having to drive out into town. All this at competitive pricing
