Pesaby intends to accelerate adoption of affordable energies. It's why we have developed a mobile platform that links low-income earners to micro-financing of their choice by using their existing social practices of creating credit (friends and family).

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Nearly all households in Tanzania involve with informal practice of saving money (vicoba). Where by friends or coworkers or family members organize a group to generate lumpsum at a given sequence per member. Pesaby is a mobile app that integrates conventional mobile wallets and enables users to manage contributions easily and timely while connecting them precisely to needed financing based on their credit profile created in the platform. The major barrier for most households to adopt usage of sustainable and affordable energies, is insufficient funds to maintain purchases such as clean gas etc. Pesaby utilizes existing social practices of creating credit available in communities to provide them with means that enable to be credit worth at accessing clean energies and other necessities from set of partners who they will be linked to in the platform.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Majority of Low-income population across Tanzania have poor adoption to sustainable and affordable energies such as gas etc due to insufficient funds to cover costs. Pesaby uses existing social practices of creating credit available among low-income communities and LINK them to formal financial services so as to secure desired credit reliably, which will enable them to access clean energies and other necessities. This technology enables affordable energy stakeholders, financial service providers to serve marginalized communities who are labeled as high risk groups, in doing so we enforce equality and alleviate poverty because we make access to credit and affordable energies available to everyone who has a phone.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

Among key benefits includes: 1, Promoting adoption of sustainable and clean energies requires collaborative efforts, Pesaby Collaborates with clean energy stakeholders, financial institutions, mobile network operators and diverse distributors at rendering its services. This practice ensures convinience and adoption as all players are linked within the app, from credit to distributor to payments. 2, Most practices currently are been done manually, we think it would be of great impact digitizing the processes to serve many women young and old whereby using a mobile phone they will have direct access to vast services they're made Aware of. 3, Pesaby addresses the exclusion issue facing women young and old so as to be able to access affordable energies without barriers. 4. Pesaby will inspire creation of new businesses in communities to extend services, because many low-income earners including women will have power to access credit from formal financial services and banks.

Cuthbert Nkwabi, computer engineer with broad experience in operating technological projects, he founded atlais.org a management system for churches across Tanzania Robert Sebastian, software engineer with extensive experience in developing and deploying mobile apps. Emiliana Maziku a scientist who has extensive knowledge running social projects.

Most practices currently are been done manually, we think it would be of great impact by digitizing the processes to serve many women young and old.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

We have no direct competitor as of now, however engaging wide range of stakeholders will be our edge to being ahead in the market.

10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?

Yes. Todate, we have helped over 60 men and women grow their business. A mother who could not send her child to school due to lack of physical collateral that would enable her secure a loan, now with Pesaby 6 women have been able to take their children to school a chance which would have been impossible without Pesaby. We enable marginalized individuals such as women young and old improve their economic targets.
