Our project involves setting up a comprehensive waste management and plastic recycling facility in Ambo, West Oromia Region. The initiative addresses the escalating waste problem by implementing efficient collection, sorting, and recycling processes for plastic waste. This facility will convert plastic waste into reusable products such as pellets, flakes, and various consumer goods. The project aims to reduce plastic pollution by 60% in the first three years, promote environmental sustainability, and stimulate the local economy by creating approximately 100 direct and indirect jobs. We plan to collaborate with local municipalities, manufacturers, and retailers to ensure a steady flow of waste materials and market for recycled products. Additionally, we will run community engagement programs to raise awareness about the benefits of recycling and proper waste management.

The main problem we are trying to solve is the escalating issue of plastic waste pollution in Ambo, West Oromia Region. This problem manifests through environmental degradation, health risks to the community, and a burden on local waste management systems. The region lacks efficient waste collection and recycling infrastructure, leading to improper disposal and accumulation of plastic waste in landfills, streets, and natural areas. This not only harms the ecosystem but also poses significant public health risks due to the toxic nature of plastic waste. Our project aims to tackle this issue by establishing a comprehensive waste management and recycling facility, reducing plastic pollution, promoting sustainability, and creating economic opportunities for the local community.

1. Environmental Sustainability: Our waste management and plastic recycling facility will significantly reduce plastic waste pollution in Ambo, promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. By converting plastic waste into reusable products, we contribute to the reduction of landfill use and minimize environmental degradation. 2.Economic Benefits: The project will create approximately 100 direct and indirect jobs, stimulating local economic growth. These jobs will range from waste collection and sorting to processing and administrative roles, providing employment opportunities for the community and supporting local businesses. 3.Public Health Improvement: Proper waste management reduces health risks associated with plastic pollution, such as toxic exposure and water contamination. By maintaining a cleaner environment, we enhance the overall well-being and quality of life for residents, reducing healthcare costs and fostering a healthier community.

Our project is aimed at serving underserved communities, particularly low-income families, at-risk youth, and marginalized individuals who lack access to essential resources and opportunities. The targeted beneficiaries include children and teenagers from disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals struggling with unemployment or underemployment, and families facing economic hardships. We also focus on providing support to minority groups, immigrants, and refugees who often encounter systemic barriers. By offering educational programs, vocational training, and community support services, our project seeks to empower these individuals, improve their quality of life, and foster social and economic inclusion. Our ultimate goal is to create a more equitable society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
