01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?
In the last decade Bauchi State has recorded the highest forest loss, driven by the widespread use of wood charcoal for cooking; leading climate induced hardships in Bauchi. Nigeria has one of the highest rates of forest loss globally, primarily due to the cutting of trees for fuel. This not only destroys forests but also contributes to climate change and respiratory health issues from smoke inhalation. Traditional wood charcoal is inefficient, burns quickly, and produces significant smoke, leading gross health challenges and greater environmental damage. The project will offer an eco-friendly alternative by converting agricultural waste into bio-charcoal briquettes. Wikki bio charcoal briquettes burn longer, produces less smoke, and are more affordable, capable of quickly replacing the wood charcoal. This sustainable and cleaner cooking energy source, will end deforestation, improve air quality, and promote better health outcomes while supporting local economic development.
01.03 Dites-nous quels sont les principaux avantages et/ou bénéfices de l'utilisation du produit/service que vous souhaitez fournir par votre projet (au moins 3).
Our bio-charcoal briquettes offers several key benefits: Environmental Protection: Our bio-charcoal briquettes are made from agricultural waste, significantly reducing deforestation and lowering carbon emissions compared to traditional wood charcoal. Economic Affordability: Currently local charcoal costs N6000 while the Wikki Briquettes plans to sell at N4000 which is equivalent to 1 (1/5) of local charcoal with better burning capacity. The briquettes burn longer and more efficiently, offering a cost-effective alternative for cooking fuel, which is crucial for low-income households, thus saving money in the long term. Health Improvement: Unlike traditional charcoal, our briquettes produce less smoke and fewer pollutants, leading to better air quality and reducing respiratory issues for users, particularly in indoor cooking settings. By addressing these areas, our project contributes to environmental sustainability, economic relief, and improved public health.
01.04 Veuillez décrire précisément à qui s'adressera le produit/service de votre projet. Quels sont les bénéficiaires visés ?
Our project is aimed at serving multiple groups within Bauchi State and eventually, Nigeria: Low-Income Households: These families will benefit from an affordable, sustainable cooking fuel that reduces their reliance on expensive and polluting traditional charcoal. Small Businesses: BBQ vendors, food sellers, and shisha lounges will gain access to a cost-effective, longer-burning fuel that enhances their operations and profitability. Farmers: They will have an additional income stream by supplying agricultural waste, which is used as raw material for the briquettes. Local Communities: By reducing deforestation and improving air quality, the entire community will benefit from a healthier environment and better quality of life. Environmental Advocates: Our project supports eco-friendly practices and sustainable energy solutions, appealing to those invested in reducing environmental impact and promoting conservation.
