Revolutionizing agriculture with climate-smart techniques, renewable energy, and market access to produce year-round vegetables, reduce post-harvest losses, and empower local farmers. Ensuring affordable, nutritious food and sustainable farming.
01.01 Décrivez votre projet en détail
Our project is designed to revolutionize vegetable farming in Nigeria by addressing the challenges of seasonal supply, climate impact and post-harvest losses. Utilizing precision farming techniques, hydroponics and green houses, we shall produce fresh vegetables throughout the year at cheap prices thereby reducing reliance on seasonality. This approach ensures that pests and diseases do not reach our plants while minimizing pollution. To fight against post-harvest losses, we will put up solar powered cold storage facilities for perishable farm produce so as to maintain their quality and reduce wastage. Also, we shall produce high-quality seedlings for farmers and provide affordable cold storage rentals to local farmers and market gardeners. Our vision includes training youths and women on climate-smart agriculture, creating farm hubs where participants can co-own and operate farms as well as developing a market platform for more than 15,000 farmers.
01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?
The major concern among us is the incessant shortages and costly prices of main vegetables during Nigeria’s dry season which are caused by climate change, poor storage system and significant post-harvest losses. This is because the supply of tomatoes, peppers and leafy greens such as spinach, cabbage etc. reduces drastically due to high temperatures and droughts that are experienced during this period which is October through April. A survey by SBMIntel revealed that 79% of Nigerian farmers were severely affected by drought and flooding in 2020, leading to major disruptions in food supply. Moreover, inadequate storage facilities worsen the situation with pest and diseases causing up to 50% yield losses. This jeopardizes national food security, raises costs of food commodities and denies vulnerable groups the right to a balanced diet. Our project aims at ensuring perennial supply of fresh, cheap vegetables using high-tech agriculture methods and innovative storage systems.
01.03 Dites-nous quels sont les principaux avantages et/ou bénéfices de l'utilisation du produit/service que vous souhaitez fournir par votre projet (au moins 3).
1. 24/7 Fresh Vegetable: Our innovation ensures availability of fresh healthy vegetables round the year through precision farming in green house and hydroponics. 2. Community Development: Based on empowerment, we will establish community farm hubs for training and developing youths, local farmers and women across the state on modern farming and agri-business for them to co-own and manage the farms. This model promotes the solidarity of the community, provides potential for self-employment and can support local economies. 3. Elimination of Post-Harvest Wastage: Our solar cold storage units will significantly reduce post-harvest losses enabling local farmers to store for longer making it possible to sell produce at better prices leading to improved livelihoods. 4. Sustainable practices: With the use of precision farming; we can use resources wisely, as a result saving water, improving productivity and reducing pollution. 5. Contributing 10% of profits to education initiatives.

Our startup will contribute to the Clean Water and Sanitation goal (SDG 6) by implementing sustainable water management practices in our agricultural processes. By using hydroponics, a soil-less farming method, we significantly reduce water usage compared to traditional farming. This method recycles water through a closed-loop system, minimizing waste and ensuring efficient use of water resources. Additionally, our greenhouses are designed to capture and utilize rainwater, further reducing dependence on external water sources. We also promote organic farming practices, which reduce pollution from chemical run-offs, thus protecting local water bodies from contamination. Through our training programs, we educate local farmers and communities on sustainable water management and conservation techniques, fostering broader adoption of practices that ensure the availability and sustainable management of water for all.

05.08 Justification de mon projet
Using precision farming and hydroponics systems, the project employ advanced agriculture technologies that allows for efficient use of resources and improve crop yield and quality. These technologies are not prevalent in the landscape of Nigeria, so our strategy is rare in the country. In order to improve existing solutions our project involves controlled environment agriculture (greenhouses) and renewable energy solutions (solar powered cold rooms). This innovation ensures getting year-long vegetables, seasons that never change and low post harvest losses. The project can be scaled according to the resources available and the needs of the communities and hence it can be replicated in other locations using methods such as modular greenhouses and solar powered cold rooms. Free training on modern agriculture will provide job opportunities in agriculture and spark entrepreneurship in youths and women. This allows our commitment to capacity building and community development.
05.09 Qui sont vos principaux potentiels concurrents et qu'est-ce qui vous différencie d'eux ?
Our primary competitors for green products include Sfarm Lab, BIC Farms Concepts and several more. Sfarm Lab leverages soilless farming to drive agriculture and BIC Farms Concepts develops efficient aquaponics and hydroponics systems but both concentrate on South-West region of Nigeria. Our startup stands out due to our unique focus on the Eastern and Northern regions of Nigeria, where the need for innovative agricultural solutions is critical. Our use of precision farming, hydroponics, and organic farming practices positions us as a formidable force in sustainable agriculture. We also offer end-to-end farming solutions, solar-powered cold storage, high-quality seedlings, trainings, and market platforms, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for farmers. Our project is not just about growing food; it's about growing hope, opportunities, and a BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR NIGERIA.
