EyeConnect is addressing the vision gap faced by local communities in accessing eye health care facilities, these gaps result from geographic and transportation barriers, lack of awareness, and scarcity of eye care practitioners in local communities. The limited access to primary health practitioners has resulted in delayed or inadequate care, and many people neglect routine eye exams due to busy schedules leading to undiagnosed eye diseases and preventable visual impairment. EyeConnect seeks to tackle the problem highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for a functional telemedicine platform, which resulted in a lack of continuous care and an increase in preventable blindness. Additionally, it addresses the problem of fragmented patient data, and inadequate public health tracking systems by providing a secure digital platform for storing and sharing information, thereby improving healthcare coordination, effectively managing pandemics, and preventing data loss.

Our EyeConnect team consists of professionals with a medical background and IT experts who aim to address the issue of a lack of access to proper eye treatment. The core team includes the founder, an optometrist with a software background, and two optometrists who also possess software skills. The Members of this team are Optometrist with 6 years of clinical experience and 5 years working as eye health advocates in marginalized communities, and with knowledge in software development from internship training with Tech companies since 2020, the founding members possess both the software and medical skills to establish EyeConnect. In addition to full-time team members, the team has access to contract workers specialized in front-end and back-end development, AI development, graphics, and web design. This blend of medical and technical professionals guarantees that EyeConnect is both easy to use as well as addressing the unique needs of the target population.

I am currently partnering with women-led organizations in my community, partnering to create workshops and events to help in the education of women to help them become independent. I also help women in my community to access funding in terms of grants for their projects to help them create an entrepreneurship market.
