Due to lack of enough capital, I have failed to completely prevent the bee colony from outbreak of pests and diseases for example controlling varroa mites, small hive beetles and diseases like American foulbrood. I have managed to sell honey that I harvested to few people in my community and as an upcoming entrepreneur, I wish to establish my project from small scale to large scale so at to be able to supply the whole community to the whole nation.

Pride Masona born on the 9th od October in 1996 has attained the following skills in beekeeping, 1. Hive management- maintaining and inspecting beehives and making sure the environment is clean. 2. Pest and disease management 3. Honey production- being able to extract and process honey from beehives 3. Safety measures- ability to follow all the safety measures when working with bees and this includes wearing protective clothing and wearing a smoker 4. Queen management- ability to identify and manage queen bees, including requeening and splitting colonies. 5. bee health monitoring- able to identify signs of stress and disease 6. equipment maintenance-able to maintain and repair beekeeping equipment, such as smokers and extractors.

As an upcoming entrepreneur in apiculture, i have observed that there are already some few people who are into beekeeping but they do not have more knowledge of beekeeping and they live many kilometers away from town where they have limited access to customers who live in town. My goal is to make sure that i deliver my product in time and to everyone who needs honey and beeswax.

Yes- i have done so through community engagement and i have managed to train two females by teaching them on how to make hives so that they will start their own projects that is entrepreneurship and for them to become role models to other women and girls. By empowering women and girls through beekeeping, i can contribute to achieving gender equality and challenging gender sterotypes.
