Synergy Biotech is a new subsidiary under KwaZulu Fresh Foods. It focuses on recycling organic waste like farm waste to produce biogas. Biogas can be purified and compressed for selling, generating electricity, biodiesel, and liquid fertilizer.

Synergy Biotech is an innovative startup subsidiary of KwaZulu Fresh Foods. We aim to recycle organic food waste to create biogas, which we plan to expand into biodiesel and electricity production in the future. Reducing landfill usage and greenhouse gas emissions. Waste will be obtained from our farm, nearby farms, and markets and transported to our anaerobic digestion plant. Here, in the lack of oxygen, microorganisms break down the waste to produce liquid fertilizer and methane. Initially used for heating, the biogas will eventually be purified to create biomethane, which produces biodiesel and generates electricity. Our operation will boost the local economy by generating employment, providing organic fertilizers for farmers, and helping farmers reduce post-harvest losses due to access to energy. Our goal is to become Zimbabwe's top supplier of renewable energy, promoting a low-carbon economy through market growth, technology acceptance, and environmentally friendly operations.

The main problem we are trying to solve is combating climate change through the production of clean and renewable energy. Excessive accumulation of organic waste, especially fruits and vegetables from nearby farms and markets, pollutes the environment and fills landfills excessively. Diseases like cholera spread as a result. Other fossil fuels used produce greenhouse gasses and disrupt the environment. Our solution is to use anaerobic digestion to turn this organic waste into biogas, which will provide a clean, sustainable energy source. This lowers carbon emissions by offering an alternative to fossil fuels and lessening the environmental impact of waste. Furthermore, our method yields nutrient-rich digestate that supports sustainable farming methods by being utilized as an organic fertilizer. By providing local farmers with a dependable waste disposal solution and creating jobs in the waste collection, biogas production, and distribution sectors, we aim to boost the local economy.

Our main focus is on local farmers and market sellers who gain from effective waste management and easy access to organic fertilizers high in nutrients. Local farmers also reduce post-harvest losses as they use the energy to help store and for packaging. Also, households and businesses benefit from sustainable, affordable energy options like biogas for cooking and heating reducing dependency on fossil fuels. The surrounding community and environment for better waste management results in less greenhouse gas emissions, less landfill use, and enhanced public health. Support is provided to Governments and Municipalities for the effective implementation of environmental policies and waste management strategies.

Audrey Ncube is also a co-founder of Synergy Biotech. She holds a degree in Records and Archives management. She is highly experienced and has worked with the parent company KwaZulu fresh foods and was instrumental in the realization that the organic waste from our farm and other nearby farms would be useful for biofertilizers as well as producing biogas. She has worked and inspired young females to believe it is all possible as well. She has good leadership skills and communication skills.

06.08 Justification

The industry is flooded with LPG Gas that is imported from other countries. This makes our product new and affordable as it is not imported. An already existing market will tap into this. The product is new as no one is producing it, purifying and compressing it for storage in Zimbabwe. This will make us break out and stand out. Therefore this is an improvement of the current product as this one is much safer and cleaner. This is new technology, with the potential to growing into a electricity generating plant or a biodiesel plant. This product responds to a need that has not been satisfied by the current products. The demand is cleaner, affordable and safe gas for usage.

06.09 Analyse compétitive

The main competitors are Zuva gas, Eco gas, and Value gas. These all sell LPG Gas. If we sell biogas we will stand out as our biogas will be much more affordable as it is produced locally unlike imported gas, Biogas is much safer than LPG gas hence this gives us an advantage as people would prefer safer fuel. As the plant grows, we could even sell gas at wholesale price to our competitors and other retailers as the product would be in demand. This means we can be the sole provider of gas in the market and wholesale to the retailers as most would prefer to buy it locally than spend on transport costs from another country. Above all, Synergy Biotech thrives to produce electricity contributing to the national grid and producing biofuels in the next 5-10 years as the company grows. We are unique as we use new and different technologies and we use biology and biotechnology to set us apart from the rest of the competitors.
