Medical waste or hazardous health care waste: needles, used syringes and other sharps waste; contaminated gloves, bandages soaked in blood, bodily fluids, laboratory samples and other infectious waste; disinfectants, solvents, expired or unused pharmaceuticals and other chemical wastes; obsolete equipment at risk of exposure to radiation and other radioactive waste... to name just a few in the health field, is thrown in the trash and exposed to the ambient air of the sanitary blocks and/or the surroundings close to healthcare establishments and to inappropriate and illegal uses by unconscious or malicious people. Or dumped into the sewers with the risk of contaminating the water. Or even burned in open fires without an emissions reduction system. The same goes for any other establishment or business generating toxic waste. All this poses a threat to public health by exposing it to high risks of spreading infections, poisoning, burns and diseases. Likewise, the environment is in danger.
