We recycle old car Tyres and make products like chairs, tables, decoration pots among others. we are based in the slums of Naguru go down Kampala Uganda. having discovered the need to protect our environment and also make money out the products of old car Tyres like chairs and tables for home use later, we have 5 members already in the project and quite a number of many willing to join. They have discovered that their skills and creativity could earn them a living after quite a number of people started admiring their products thus, they also started placing their own orders. As of today, the project has taught quiet a number of youths on how to use their creativity and skills to earn them a living an also contribute positively to their families and community. The project has helped the youth to avoid social evils that have eaten most youth in the slums like doing drugs, Alcohol, stealing, having premature sex due to idleness, lack of employment opportunities and among others.
01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?
we are protecting the environment though Recyling old car Tyres that would have caused environmental degradation. Recyclable products are used as the raw materials for new products. As the number of our natural resources is decreasing day by day and if this continues nothing will be left for our future generation, recycling is the only ways which can help us to meet our daily demands and save the natural resources. Another vital role of recycling is that it will reduce the amount of waste in our environment and help us to keep our surroundings clean thus it has helped a lot to conserve the Planet’s Natural Resources. we have also aimed to reduce unemployment which is common among the youth though making products and crafts out of old Tyres and selling their products to customers to earn some money for a living. The project has helped the youth to avoid social evils that have eaten most youth in the slums like doing drugs, Alcohol, stealing, having premature sex due to idleness.

1. Reduces Air Pollution and CO2 Emissions Recycling is an easier and more efficient process to produce many raw materials. So, in general, recycling materials will produce less air pollution and release less CO2 emissions in the atmosphere compared to using virgin materials. For example, if much easier and less polluting to recycle Tyres rather than cut trees to make Funiture. This is because lumbering is an activity with a high environmental impact. 2. Healthier Ecosystem for Humans and Wildlife Recycling helps to keep a healthier ecosystem for both humans and wildlife. it helps to maintain a clean, healthy environment. Rivers and lakes, wildlife habitats, and coastal waters can be contaminated by chemicals, and other harmful substances, including rubber. 3. Brings Communities Together, when communities and people come together to recycle and support recycling activities, they can also raise funds for Schools, colleges, hospitals, and other socially relevant causes hence cohesion

Food Waste and Hunger: Every year, approximately 1.3 billion Tonnes of food are either lost or wasted globally1. In 2020, as many as 811 million people were undernourished, up by 118 million from the previous year1. Reducing food waste is crucial to address hunger and food insecurity. Composting Benefits: Composting is an effective way to manage organic waste. It reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, helps recover soil fertility, and improves water retention and nutrient delivery to plants, thus Recyling Tyres helps in improving soil fertility and hence more food production. By Recyling, we can reduce Tyre waste since the they are made to last for a long time and do not easily decompose into the soil, which contribute to climate change. Instead of a linear take-and-discard approach, we need circular thinking where resources are continuously repurposed. Composting aligns with this circular model, sustaining life and minimizing waste thus a need to recycle the Tyres.

Conserves Natural Resources: Recycling helps save finite natural resources. For instance: Recycling Tyres preserves trees and forests. While new trees can be planted, virgin rainforests and ancient woodlands cannot be replaced once lost. Recycling reduces the need for new Funiture production from timber, which typically relies on fossil fuel hydrocarbons. it also minimizes the necessity for risky and damaging forests and extraction of new trees. Even recycling glass reduces the demand for new raw materials like sand, which is becoming scarce globally. By reducing the need for new raw materials, recycling lessens harmful disruptions to the natural world. Fewer forests are cut down, rivers diverted, and wild animals harmed or displaced. Proper recycling prevents plastic waste from polluting rivers and seas, affecting coastlines and waterways worldwide. Reduces Demand for Raw Materials: The increasing demand for new products from trees reduces the tree cover and forests.

Gender Dynamics in Waste Management: The waste management sector often reflects traditional gender roles, with women primarily responsible for household waste management. Women are more likely to engage in recycling, minimize wastage, and participate in water and energy-saving initiatives at the household level. However, they tend to be excluded from higher-income and decision-making roles in waste management, such as truck drivers or scrap dealers, for us as Art paradise Naguru we have worked with the women for the betterment of the community at large. Addressing gender inequality in waste management requires awareness campaigns, training, and data collection. COVID-19 Impact: The pandemic has exacerbated existing gender disparities in the waste sector. Women in informal waste management face challenges due to reduced income, lack of social security, and limited access to benefits thus we call upon other waste management facilities to include women in their long-term plans.

Critical Minerals and Clean Energy: Clean energy technologies rely on resources and minerals, often referred to as “critical minerals.” These include materials like latex used in making rubber Tyres which is grown in rubber trees hence this reduces the forest cover to plant the rubber trees, thus encouraging Tyre making companies to buy old Tyres and recycle them to make new ones as a way to save the forest cover and foster clean energy. However, the supply of these minerals is geographically concentrated, with China being a major player in extraction and processing. The projected demand exceeds available supply, leading to higher prices and potential shortages. Recycling can help address this challenge by providing a steady stream of recycled materials. When end-of-life products (such as batteries, wind turbine blades, and solar panels) are recycled, it protects producers from volatile commodity prices. By recycling, we can reduce the need for new extractions of natural resources

Recycling is often advocated due to environmental benefits, such as reducing waste and conserving resources. However, it can also have socio-economic implications. Recycling creates jobs in waste management, collection, and processing. These jobs can benefit local communities and contribute to economic growth, potentially reducing income inequality. By promoting recycling, governments can address market failures related to waste management. For instance, without intervention, private actors may not fully consider the social and environmental costs of waste disposal. Policies that encourage recycling can help correct these market failures and promote more equitable outcomes. Carbon Pricing and Income Inequality: Carbon pricing policies, when combined with progressive revenue recycling schemes, can influence income inequality. Our Project is aim at reducing distortions caused by carbon policies on the economy while enhancing the redistributive effects of individual income tax.

Different types of waste impact the environment differently. However, all items placed in a landfill negatively impact the environment. Organic waste decomposes and creates carbon dioxide and methane gas. Methane is produced when no air is present, while carbon dioxide is the natural product when anything rots in the air. Inorganic waste includes products made from natural resources such as water, fuel, metal and timber, which causes greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide and other pollutants. Plastic waste produces greenhouse gas emissions during every stage of its lifecycle. Plastic extraction and transportation depend on oil, gas and coal. The production and disposal of plastics release tons of carbon emissions. The waste management process, including transportation and incineration, contributes to greenhouse gas emissions thus Recyling come in as the only savoir to responsible consumption and production.

Pollution and Marine Life: Tire Particles: As tires wear down, tiny particles rub off and enter freshwater and coastal estuary ecosystems. These particles can harm marine organisms1. Microplastics: Tires contribute to microplastic pollution. As an important source of microplastics, the water ecological risk of tire wear particles (TWPs) has attracted widespread attention worldwide. However, the occurrence and behavior of TWPs and their biological effects in water environments have not been clearly analyzed. For example, most contemporary studies have focused on the evaluation of the aquatic toxicity of TWPs leachate, and little attention has been paid to the behavior process and potential risks of its surface properties in water environments. In addition, most studies rely on preparing TWPs under laboratory conditions or purchasing commercial TWPs for studying their water environmental behavior or exposure. These obviously cannot meet the requirements of accurate assessment of water.
