Connecting farmers directly to consumers, our startup promotes sustainable urban food systems by bypassing intermediaries. We prioritize nutrient-dense foods, ecosystem preservation, and fair compensation to scale regenerative agriculture
01.01 Décrivez votre projet en détail
One of the key challenges for sustainable urban food systems is shortening the food supply chain by connecting food producers directly to consumers locally or regionally. This disconnect often leads to the exploitation of both farmers and consumers by intermediaries and brokers, who capture a significant portion of the profits. This practice reduces financial benefits for farmers and increases food prices for consumers. Additionally, there is a pressing need to recognize and reward farmers for their contributions beyond mere yield, emphasizing the production of nutrient-dense foods and the preservation of ecosystem services. Our startup aims to address these challenges by creating direct connections between regenerative farmers and consumers, eliminating intermediaries, and revolutionizing agricultural practices and compensation. This approach will help scale urban regenerative food systems, fostering a more transparent, equitable, and sustainable food supply chain.
01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?
The current agricultural paradigm faces three critical challenges: First, a disconnect between consumers and farmers diminishes transparency, hindering support for local, sustainable agriculture. Second, farmers' compensation based on yield quantity neglects sustainability and encourages harmful practices like chemical inputs, damaging soil and biodiversity. Third, intermediaries exploit profits, reducing farmer earnings and raising food prices for consumers, limiting access to fresh, locally-grown food. These issues undermine financial stability and discourage adoption of regenerative farming practices.

Our main potential competitors include traditional supermarkets, online grocery platforms, and auction/public markets dominated by brokers. These markets often lack transparency in food sourcing and fair compensation for farmers. In contrast, our platform disrupts these practices by directly connecting consumers with regenerative farmers. We prioritize sustainability, fair compensation, and environmental stewardship. By bypassing intermediaries like brokers, more revenue stays in the local economy, benefiting farmers. Our focus on transparent food sourcing and direct consumer-producer relationships ensures consumers get fresh, locally sourced produce. Educational resources on regenerative practices and community engagement initiatives further set us apart, fostering consumer trust and supporting local economies. This challenges the conventional supply chains in Africa, promoting a sustainable food ecosystem meeting the demand for ethical consumption.
10.06 Menez-vous des actions au sein de votre communauté pour promouvoir le rôle des femmes entrepreneurs ?
While I don't have direct examples of initiating actions solely focused on promoting female entrepreneurs in my community, I have actively worked alongside and encouraged women in agriculture, particularly within the banana farming sector. Bananas are a significant commercial crop in our region, and many farmers, including women, are deeply involved in its cultivation. I have supported these women technically, providing guidance on farming practices, and assisted on the market side by connecting them with buyers. Through these efforts, I've aimed to empower women to take on leadership roles and enhance their participation in agricultural activities, contributing to gender equality and economic empowerment within our community.
