Our project is an innovative aquaponic fish farm that combines aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (soilless plant cultivation) in a closed-loop system. This sustainable method uses fish waste to provide organic nutrients for plants, while the plants naturally filter and clean the water for the fish. The system significantly reduces water usage compared to traditional farming and eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We aim to produce fresh, locally-sourced fish and vegetables, reducing the carbon footprint associated with food transportation. In addition to food production, we focus on community engagement and education. We offer workshops, training programs, and school partnerships to teach sustainable farming practices and promote environmental awareness. Our project creates job opportunities, supports local economies, and fosters a resilient, food-secure community.

the main problem this buisiness venture will be solving is the elimination of hunger through the provision of a highly nutrituous consummable fish and vegetable produced organically in the local community. Moreover this project seeks to give the woman a voice in decision making in the bamenda community as this business venture will not only provide a decent job to 5 females but will also seek to help these young women create and develop their own fish farming buisiness in the northwest region, thus reducing the rate of poverty by 25% . considering that agriculture is the main employment sector of the northwest region of Cameroon according to OCHA's report 2021, this sector we must state witnesses a majority of men as compared to women. this buisiness project will seek an increase in the participation of women in the Agricultural sector.

Aquaponic fish farming is an agricultural method that intergrates two systems of farming, meaning that, one can raise fish and cultivating plants in water at the same time. The benefit includes; Nutritional benefits; this aquaponics produces fresh and nutritious food that is very rich in vitamins and minerals. In the city of Bamenda, organic products are scarce and highly expensive when found. This therefore will be a means of an increasing dietary diversity and overall nutrition for families, particularly in Bamenda since access to fresh organic vegetables and protein sources is limited. Secondly, it will lead to a sustainable food production as aquaponics integrates aquaculture and hydroponics in a symbolic environment. Thus, providing a sustainable source of protein and fresh produce. Thirdly, Income generation. Aquaponic systems can be economically profitable due to dual production. The generation of huge income comes by selling surplus produce and fish.

this project has as targetted beneficiaries - local community : the local community of bamenda with a population of over 2million will benefit from this project - internally displaced unemployed women: the ongoing crisis has displaced many persons with women highly affected, some who have lost their husbands are now settled in the urban settlement of Bamenda. finding a decent job to survive with their families has been challenging. this project targets this group as they are most vulnerable. Employing them gives them the opportunity to earn decent living for themselves and families. - the local economy: the poverty level of bamenda is stated at 55% according to OCHA March 2021 report, this indicates a drop in gross domestic product. with this project we seek to participate in empowering the local economy.

By integrating fish farming with hydroponic plant cultivation, this project utilizes the nutrient-rich water from fish tanks to fertilize plants, creating a closed-loop system that maximizes resource efficiency; this is unlike the normal fish farming. In addition, Aquaponics systems generally use less water, energy compared to traditional agricultural practices, with Reduced Chemical use, this project minimizes chemical runoff, and its impact on the environment, promoting organic farming practices.

10.06 Menez-vous des actions au sein de votre communauté pour promouvoir le rôle des femmes entrepreneurs ?

Yes I have been promoting the role of female entrepreneurs within my community. Here are several actions that I have taken to support and elevate female entrepreneurship in my community: 1. Entrepreneurship Trainings: I have carried out trainings with young girls on food transformation, permitting them to use products from potatoes and cassava and transform them into cookies and biscuit. 2. Mentorship Programs: I also organize mentorship programs that connect aspiring female entrepreneurs with experienced business women who can provide guidance, support, and advice. This has help build confidence and provide practical insights into navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship for fellow entrepreneurs like myself.
