01.01 Décrivez votre projet en détail
The PET BOTTLE 3D PRINT FILAMENT is a PET bottle recycling machine that creates 3D Printing Filaments. In vision with the SDG goals, it addresses the issues of: Plastic Waste: By turning used bottles into filaments, we divert from landfills and promote recycling. Limited 3D Printing Resources: The machine offers a cost effective and readily available source of filaments, making 3D printing more accessible By transforming readily available PET bottles into 3D printing filaments, our machine promotes sustainable practices by diverting plastic from landfills and creating a new life for bottles. Furthermore, it broadens the accessibility of 3D printing, particularly in regions with limited resources or those looking for cost effective filaments options. This can empower individuals and communities to engage in creative design and fabrication using recycled materials.
01.02 Quel est le problème principal que vous essayez de résoudre ?
Plastic Waste Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic is widely used in packaging, particularly for beverages, liquids and food containers. While PET plastics offers convenience and durability, it presents significant environmental challenges leading to environmental pollution, waste management challenges, resource depletion and Human Health (production of microplastics). As of 2021, global production of PET plastic (bottles) was estimated at around 82 million metric tons annually with only about 14-18% of PET plastic been recycled. Also an estimate of 8 million metric tons of plastic waste, including PET plastics enter the oceans. Limited 3D Printing Resources As 3D printing technology continues to improve, there is a rising need for more available quality printing materials. The cost of getting this materials is very high and sometimes, time consuming due to the fact they have to be imported. With this, our product is geared towards solving these challenges.

05.08 Justification de mon projet
Currently, most 3D printing filament is made from virgin plastic, raising concerns about resource depletion and plastic pollution. While recycled filament options exist, they might be limited in availability or more expensive. The innovative of our project is that it offers a solution by creating filaments directly from PET bottles. This promotes a circular economy , reduces reliance on virgin plastic, and provides a potentially more affordable filament option for users. Also, large-scale industrial processes are often used for recycling plastic into filament. These might not be accessible to individual users or communities. Our project focuses on developing a user friendly machine suitable for individual or small-scale production. This empowers users to create their own filaments locally, fostering a more decentralized and accessible approach, and also drastically reducing the cost of filaments.
05.09 Qui sont vos principaux potentiels concurrents et qu'est-ce qui vous différencie d'eux ?
3D Tech Solutions: Located in Yaounde, they Offer a wide range of 3D printing services using Ployactic acid (PLA), Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and resin materials. They have a Strong online presence and competitive pricing. PrintLab: Located in Douala, they focus on high-volume 3D printing for businesses, with expertise in complex designs and engineering applications. They have a Limited customer service options. CameMaker: Located in Bamenda, they Offer 3D printing services alongside Computerized Numerical control (CNC) machining and laser cutting. They Lack a dedicated website and might have limited brand awareness compared to Yaounde and Douala-based competitors. While most of this competitors focus on 3D printing technology itself, we offer an alternative and more flexible way of filament production that are produced, maintained and sold locally.
10.06 Menez-vous des actions au sein de votre communauté pour promouvoir le rôle des femmes entrepreneurs ?
Evaluating the exact number at this stage might be challenging. However, during project implementation, we can track the following metrics to assess the impact on women and young people. Number of machines sold or deployed: This provides a general indication of the project's reach. User Demographics: Through surveys or registration forms, we can collect data on the gender and age of users to understand the specific reach among women and young people. Educational workshops and outreach programs: Rack the number of participants, specifically targeting women's groups and young programs , to assess their engagement with the technology and its sustainable aspects. Community partnerships: Partnering with schools, universities, or women's cooperatives can help target specific beneficiary groups and track their progress in adopting the machine and recycled filament. By monitoring these metrics, we can evaluate the projects effectiveness in reaching its target audience inclusive women.
