Uwezo Ustawi Foundation is a non-profit organization. The organization has two founders and five board members. The main focus of the Foundationis to give access to quality education to children with intellectual challenges such as autism.

The Uwezo Ustawi Foundation helps kids with learning challenges in Kenya by giving them good and fair education. Our group runs a school in the poor area of Kangemi. We let kids in based on how much money their parents have. This means some kids go for free, some pay some, and some pay all. We have both boarding and day schools, which is great for parents who can't pay for the bus. Our school gives free physiotherapy sessions every day and makes sure the kids eat well, which is very important for their growth.

Usually, there are many children with intellectual disabilities, especially children with ASD, who do not receive education at all, particularly children that are less fortunate. Many of the special units in public primary schools can only take a few children, and they may not be able to take in all children, even when they have an intellectual disability, so, some children with intellectual disabilities are sent away for not being able to feed themselves, or perform any other ADL (Activity of Daily Living) (Put together). Some parents say the cost of enrolling a child in a private school is very high and some parents are mashamba workers who earn money in the field and they do not have the money to send the children to school daily and also afford the accommodation and the other expenses for their children. The Uwezo Ustawi Foundation is working to ensure that the children have an all-around inclusive education, food and overall development for the children to grow and learn.

Our value proposition is based on Quality Education, Need-Based Scholarships and Holistic Development. Need-Based Scholarships: We offer scholarships based on the financial status of the parents, so students from any financial background can attend. This will ensure every child can come to our program without any financial restrictions including transportation fees. Holistic Development: Our program also includes daily physical therapy and proper nutrition at no extra cost, essential for children’s physical and mental development. By addressing the two we ensure a quality education and care system for each intellectually disabled child that covers key health and education components.

The Uwezo Ustaw Foundation runs a school with very basic facilities for mentally challenged children, beyond the facilities available in public primary schools.
