Marian Farm is an agricultural project aimed at income generation and creation of employment around Bura sub location, Karimboni village, Magarini sub county in kilifi county.

01.01 Décrivez votre startup en détail

Magarini sub county is an area which mostly receives unreliable rainfall with good agricultural soil. My aim is to tap it's potential through farming by irrigation. My plan is to drill a borehole in my four acre piece of land which will enable me engage large scale maize farming.

The main problem I am fighting is hunger. With the availability of water I will be able to cultivate even during the dry season. The farm will also provide employment opportunities to the people around.

My project is based on food production. Maize is staple food for many people. With the availability of water I will be able to produce maize at lower cost and be able to sell at reduced cost to enable the low income earners to put food on their tables.

I believe in gender inclusivity and that is why within my team we have a woman. Women have always been left aside job creation and employment opportunities,but in our farm we shall give women the first priority in terms of employment.

06.08 Justification

In my startup, we are not creating a new product but but we want to come up a new way sustaining the production of the same. Most farmers depend on rainfall but we want to use underground water for irrigation so that there can be sustained production.

06.09 Analyse compétitive

There are many people doing farming but no expertise . In my team I have ana expert in agriculture. Secondly our advantage will be in the use of underground water which flows throughout all seasons. We will be able to sustain our production and supply.
