Describe your project or startup in a few words
Pamukoko is a beekeeping project that will empower underprivileged rural communities to fight poverty, give their children an education and fight deforestation.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
The project will work on distributing beehives to underprivileged families, who will be trained to take care of them and Pamukoko will buy products which include honey, beeswax and other value added products from them, providing a ready market for the products.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problems we are trying to solve is to alleviate poverty, which in turn allows families to afford an education for their children. The project also aims to curb deforestation by using forests for beekeeping and promoting the planting of new trees to replace those cut for use in activities like tobacco curing. Another benefit of the project would be maximization of harvests from the beehive to maximize profitability per hive by harvesting other beehive products which are of value but are not usually harvested in the local market.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
The main advantages are that the products will be sustainably sourced, with no harm done to the environment, while also planting cut trees to stop environmental degradation. These products will help underprivileged communities earn a decent living, alleviating poverty and allowing them to afford an education for their children. The products will be bought from these communities at fair prices, ensuring that they are paid fairly for their work, while also providing a ready market for them.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The project mainly aims to target rural communities who lack a decent source of income. As the project progresses, the wider community will benefit from the curbing of deforestation and reforestation projects as they protect life on land and will benefit the community at large.

A host of new value added products will be added to the usual product offerings that are normally found in beekeeping. We would not only use existing forests but also work on planting more trees to regrow forests that have been cut down.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Beekeeping is an old business and there are many competitors in the industry, both large and small players. Our products will be bought at a fair price to the communities involved. The communities will also learn new skills that will help them be more self sufficient
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
I once participated in a female only entrepreneurship program and from the acquaintance I made there, I help other women with their businesses and how to improve and make them better.
