Describe your project or startup in a few words
Couture Corner promotes Zim’s fashion designers by providing a platform to sell ready-made & custom creations, showcase portfolios, and foster collaborations. We aim to expand local retail, create global labels, and stimulate economic growth & employment
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Couture Corner is dedicated to promoting and nurturing Zimbabwean fashion designers by providing an innovative platform where they can sell both ready-made & custom creations. Designers can showcase their portfolios, fostering collaborations and gaining exposure to a global audience. Our platform offers educational resources, including courses and webinars, to help designers stay updated with industry trends and enhance their skills. We also organize networking events, workshops, and seminars to facilitate learning and collaboration within the fashion community. In addition to our online presence, we aim to establish a physical shop equipped with necessary tools and machinery where talented but resource-limited designers can create their products. Initially, this space will be provided free of charge to help designers build their brands and gain market presence. Over time, we will transition to a low-cost fee structure to sustain the operation while still supporting emerging designers.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem Couture Corner aims to solve is the under representation and underdevelopment of Zimbabwean fashion designers in both local and global markets. Many talented designers lack the resources, exposure, and support needed to grow their brands and reach wider audiences. Also, the local fashion industry struggles with limited retail opportunities and minimal appreciation for indigenous fashion, resulting in slow economic growth and few employment opportunities. The lack of educational resources, networking opportunities, and sustainable practices further hampers the growth and recognition of Zimbabwean designers.
