Smart Grey Go Green Cycle aims to provide smart grey water treatment systems to address urban water shortages. It enables small-scale recycling of wastewater from bathing/washing for reuse, reducing costs, combating climate change, and conserving water.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

The smart Grey Go Green cycle project is a smart system which enables collecting ,treatment,storage and reuse of grey water.Small amd large institutions school enabling availability and effective use of water. Grey water from all the wastewater pipes except the toilet will be collected into a tank installed as a modification at a home ,shop or hotel , treated and used for different applictions like irrigation ,flushing toilets ,bathing, washing cars and cleaning enabling availability of water .The system will consist of three main stages which are :- 1.Filtration to remove solids from the wastewater 2.Automatic addition of sodium hypochlorite whereby the volume of the grey water in the tank at that time determines the dosage of sodium hypochlorite applied 3.Storage of treated water The smart and simple system will be cheap and potable for the general public needs.The improvement of the system will include wetland plants at the base of the storage tank

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

The main problem is shortage of water sypply in urban areas .Due to the current water shortages in my residential area ,like most residential areas in Zimbabwe, my parents came up with the idea of storing up grey water mainly in buckets .Unfortunately this would produce terrible smell and seem to be breeding bacteria.Since water shortages is a nation crisis I thought of a way to collect the grey water and reuse it in a more healthy ,automated and smart way.This will reduce the demand of water from the centralised water distribution systems.

The advantages are:- 1.The people will continously have water to use for bathing,flushing toilets and cleaning 2.Conservation of water 3.Lower water bills 4.Continous availability of water

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

This project serves to be an advantage to the people of Zimbabwe mainly the residents ,business owners and the authority .Reducing the demand of water from water reservoirs enables Zimbabwe to counter the current occurring drought and save water.The general public in homes ,lodges ,shops and hotels will have reliable water supply .

I am a part 4 student at NUST (National University of Science and Technology) pursuing Electronics Engineering. My programming skills in python ,Java and C+have improved with the help of modules I have been doing at school.

The rise of a company installing and maintaining grey water treatment systems will be a creation of employment for the young unemployed Zimbabwean graduates and nongraduates.The lack of employment in Zimbabwe has causes a rapid increase in theft hence employment of these energetic young citizens ,can play a part in reducing crime.
