SOL Water
Describe your project or startup in a few words
An intelligent, portable, and environmentally friendly hybrid system has been developed, which uses thermal rays from the sun to carry out the desalination process (it produces drinking water, distilled water "5 litres/10 minutes").
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Solar energy, a clean and renewable resource, offers vast potential. It can replace polluting traditional fuels and is ideal for distilling water and converting non-potable water into drinkable water. This method addresses global water shortages by using solar heat to purify contaminated or saline water, providing a sustainable source of fresh, clean water.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The innovative idea originated from: 1. Water scarcity: Addressing the urgent global issue. 2. Scientific perspective: Numerous studies applied our expertise in renewable energies, creating a well-researched, marketable desalination technology. 3. Marketing perspective: Rising demand surpassing supply. The idea evolved after reviewing problem statistics and identifying specific market needs, especially in desert areas facing severe water shortages. This approach combines realistic, scientific, and marketing perspectives to advance water desalination solutions effectively.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
The scarcity of fresh water in desert areas, especially those lacking rainfall, has led to a decrease in water resources on one hand and high costs of modern technology for producing distilled water on the other. This has made it difficult to produce water and created what is known as economic dependency. This prompted us to consider utilizing unused water and recycling it for use, especially given the availability of abundant, free, and also underutilized energy resources like the sun. All of this led us to think about creating a product that uses solar energy to become a provider of water resources that offers: - Adaptability and flexibility - Suitability and ease of use - Modernity and high water productivity - Low cost and long lifespan
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Target audience: - Factories. - Battery and chemical manufacturing institutions. - Agriculture and farming sector. - Educational institutions. - All members of society. Additionally, partnerships can be established with countries to set up stations in the desert for such installations to serve as solar water desalination stations.
