In Ethiopia, where access to clean water remains a pressing issue, innovation in hand pump manufacturing holds the potential to transform communities. By leveraging advanced technologies and sustainable practices, a new era of hand pump production emerges, promising reliability, efficiency, and affordability. The locally sourced hand pump design is remained with durability and ease of maintenance in mind. Incorporating locally-sourced materials and simplified mechanisms, the new design ensures longevity and resilience against harsh environmental conditions. Additionally, ergonomic considerations are prioritized to facilitate ease of use for all demographics. Our company will create a job for around 31 employees at the start of the company and we have the vision to export for different African country on 2032. On the other hand we need 2,819,600 birr to start our business so that we had plan to gate finance from Ethiopia Development Bank 77% of the finance through idea financing
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Water Scarcity:** Many regions in Ethiopia face water scarcity, exacerbated by erratic rainfall patterns and droughts. Health Concerns:** Prior to the installation of hand pumps, communities relied on contaminated water sources such as rivers, ponds, or shallow wells, leading to waterborne diseases. Accessibility:** Traditional water sources often required long and arduous journeys, particularly for women and children who are primarily responsible for water collection. Community Development:** Access to clean water is essential for community development, as it improves health, hygiene, and agricultural productivity.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
1. Rural Communities: Access to clean water improves health, reduces time spent fetching water, and enhances overall quality of life. 2. Women and Children: Often responsible for water collection, they benefit from reduced burden and improved health. 3. Farmers: Access to water for irrigation can increase crop yields and agricultural productivity, leading to food security and economic growth. 4. Local Businesses: Improved water availability can support small-scale enterprises such as livestock rearing, vegetable farming, and food processing. 5. Health Sector: Reduced incidence of waterborne diseases leads to lower healthcare costs and less strain on healthcare facilities. 6. Government: Long-term benefits include improved public health, increased agricultural output, and social stability, contributing to national development goals.
