Describe your project or startup in a few words
We recycle plastic waste into sustainable buttons for the fashion industry.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Pneedles is a pioneering Nigerian startup transforming plastic waste into high-quality, sustainable buttons for the fashion industry. By leveraging advanced recycling technologies and AI-powered processes, we efficiently convert discarded plastics into eco-friendly buttons, reducing environmental pollution and conserving resources. Our blockchain-integrated supply chain ensures transparency and traceability, fostering trust among stakeholders. We collaborate with local communities for waste collection, creating jobs and supporting the local economy. Through strategic partnerships with fashion brands, we offer customizable, innovative button designs, catering to the growing demand for sustainable fashion materials. We're committed to promoting a circular economy by recycling plastic waste, thereby minimizing environmental impact and enhancing value. Our holistic approach combines technology, sustainability, and community engagement to drive positive environmental and social change.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Pneedles aims to tackle the escalating problem of plastic pollution in Nigeria, which significantly harms the environment and public health. The country generates over 2.5 million tons of plastic waste annually , much of which ends up in landfills, waterways, and the ocean, contributing to environmental degradation and posing risks to wildlife and human communities. Additionally, the global fashion industry faces scrutiny for its negative environmental impact due to its unsustainable production & consumption practices. In order for the fashion industry to become sustainable, they need to adopt sustainable materials but currently, there's scarcity of affordable, scalable solutions for sustainable fashion materials.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
Environmental Impact: By recycling plastic waste into buttons, we significantly reduce plastic pollution, lowers CO2 emissions, and conserves natural resources. This contributes to cleaner environments and healthier ecosystems. Cost Efficiency: Our buttons are made from readily available plastic waste, reducing production costs. This cost efficiency allows us to offer affordable prices, making sustainable materials accessible to a broader range of fashion brands. Sustainability and Innovation: Our buttons support the circular economy by reusing and upcycling plastic waste. With customizable designs and the use of advanced technologies, we provide innovative, high-quality products that meet the growing consumer demand for eco-friendly fashion materials. Additionally, our approach creates local jobs, supports community engagement, and enhances the corporate social responsibility (CSR) profiles of fashion brands that utilize our products..
