Beurhe Agro focuses on Agriculture and food production using organic soil fertilizer. Due to low soil fertility, decrease in agricultural production and food contamination that have led to hunger, malnutrition and death of over 420,000 people yearly.

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Because of high level of hunger due to inadequate food production, food contamination, malnutrition leading to 420,000 death yearly and resulting to loss of 33 million healthy lives yearly. Children under 5 years of age carry 40% of the food borne disease burden with 125,000 deaths every year. Low Agricultural production and food borne diseases impeding socio -economic development, harms national economy, health system, tourism and trade. Beurhe Agro organic fertilizer helps to produce a sustainable food by reforming, reviving and rejuvenating the soil, bringing about high crop yield and increase in production of uncontaminated food. A situation where food system contributes to food security and nutrition for all in such a way that the economic, social, cultural and environmental bases is to generate food security and nutrition for future generations and ensure they are safe guarded. Our objective is to end hunger, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Beurhe Agro is solving the problem of • Loss of micro and macro nutrients in the soil. •Decrease in crop yield and food production. • Decrease in the production of uncontaminated food. •Damaged soil nutrients. • Poor soil quality. • Hunger/Starvation. •Food insecurity due to soil damage. •Malnutrition • underweight. •Stunted growth due to the consumption of low nutritious/quality food. •Sanitation. •Economic dysfunctionality. •Gender Inequality. According to SDG Report Goal 2; Zero Hunger (8 target, 14 Indicator), Beurhe Agro is partaking in eradicating food insecurity and promoting food security for all by improving the fertility of the soil, supplying organic food, that is rightly sourced and cultivated with nutritional values intact, in order to promote a healthy living. Almost one -third are without food or unable to eat a Healthy balanced diet on a regular basis. Beurhe Agro processes biodegradable waste into uncontaminated fertilizer for adequate productivity of food. I

To maximize recycling opportunities and minimizing waste headed to landfill, support sustainable food production, provide access to all and build a positive legacy in the food system. To have a positive impact on the circular bio-economy, reduce food waste and improve a sustainable food production. We are looking at a situation were there is a safe Biodiversity, water and soil. The people are safe and there will be high level of soil nutrients and hygiene in the environment.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

• Farmers: Farmers are desperately in need of help because of the diseases rampaging in the world due to the conventional fertilizers used for growing crops. As regards to importation of food and goods such as fertilizers/soil improvers, they are expensive and as a matter of fact we cannot solely depend on importation of food because of the standard, viability and impact of the food to human health in the locality. • Consumers: The health of the consumers are also put into consideration. It is recommended for our local food to be produced locally with less preservative, maximum handling, packaging and meeting the food standard of the country. • Schools: To educate the pupils and students on the need for proper and adequate food production and the importance of agriculture to the community and country at large. Also to encourage them on sustainable food production, food security, gender equality, Job creation and development of economic revenue in the country.

1) Uwah Patricia Emeka (CEOProject Lead): A graduate of Biochemistry, finished from University of Port Harcourt. Have 8 years of experience in handling projects. Have led a team of 5 delivery knowledge and work solution and achieving a great result in the industry and community. Worked in Research and Development Department during NYSC in Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA)as a researcher. Worked as Laboratory technician in Quality control Department during Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). 2) Nwana Nwakaego C.( CFO/Project Manager): A graduate of Business Management from Birmingham City University. Have 5 years of experience in managing people, projects and resources. 3) Emeka Uwah (COO/Development Lead): A graduate of Marketing, finished from Enugu State University Enugu. Have 6 years of experience in marketing of products and services. Have worked with JAWA Pharmaceuticals as sales representative for 4 years and as Marketer at Mutual Benefits life insurance

My main potential competitors are the conventional fertilizer industries who uses petrochemical by-products to produce these fertilizers that causes damage to the soil, low food production contaminates the soil and food and discourages agricultural practices. It's somewhat expensive, not accessible when needed because of high rate of importation. It not feasible and viable. But Beurhe Agro fertilizer/Soil improver, makes agricultural practices easier. It improves soil fertility. It's readily available. It's accessible and affordable because it's produced from our daily biodegradable waste. Helps the soil produce food with zero contamination, helps soil maintain it's habitat and retain food nutrients. Boost soil nutrients. Maintains Green House Gas (GHG) effect in the ecosystem. Maximizes recycling opportunities and minimizing waste headed to the landfill. Increases safe Bíodiversity, water and soil.
