Describe your project or startup in a few words
Mrs Scraps Designs exists to give and breathe new life to fabric scraps by transforming them to fashion accessories like scrunchies, headbands, and jewelries.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
I worked as a contract staff with a company in the US that focuses on sustainable education for teachers and educating them on career pathways for their students. This opportunity opened my eyes to the world of sustainability. I was a fashion apprentice and I noticed that after we designed clothes, we either threw away or burnt those scraps. With my knowledge of sustainability and the circular economy, I decided to approach fashion designers in my area for their fabric scraps. I educated them on the environmental impact of these scraps and the transformative potential of my project. They were excited to give me their fabric scraps. After collecting the scraps, I transformed them into fashionable and trendy accessories like scrunchies, headbands, and jewelry such as earrings and necklaces.

06.08 Justification for my startup
I did thorough market research before starting out. I found that this product is growing rapidly in regions outside my state, but the market in my state is at a different level. To create market awareness, I made and gave out over 100 scrunchies and headbands for free. I discovered that the existing sellers weren't marketing their products effectively. To stand out and make an impact in the market, I knew I had to do something different.
06.09 Competitive Analysis
My competitors are entrepreneurs who create hair accessories such as headbands and scrunchies. What makes my product different is its uniqueness. Due to the use and shortage of the length of the fabric scraps, no customer has the same design and style of scrunchy or headband. This has made me and my customers stand out from sellers and other customers who make and use the same fabric. We have also created different styles other than the plain scrunchies and given them different names like Mickey Mouse and Mimi Mouse scrunchy, and many more.
11.05 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes. Currently, I host a club to teach students, housewives, civil servants how to use their gifts, talents, and abilities to make money online and offline.
