Describe your project or startup in a few words
StreetMate is a fast-food startup democratizing access to safe, nutritious meals in Nigeria through kiosks made from repurposed shipping containers. Accepting recyclable waste as a means of payment, transformong waste to tokens that meet daily food needs.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
StreetMate is a tech-driven, low-cost, take-out only, ghost kitchen and cyber chef-modeled fast-food startup dedicated to democratizing access to affordable, high-quality fast food and personalized food services. We accept recyclable waste as a means of payment alongside other methods, democratizing waste collection and transforming waste into tokens that meet everyday food needs. We buy recyclable waste from Nigerians and issue them StreetMate Tokens that can be used to buy food at any of our outlets. Operating a franchise model, we minimize overhead costs and ensure affordability through shared central kitchens serving hundreds of kiosks. Each kitchen is co-owned by up to ten franchisees, sharing equipment, labor, investment, and expenses, reducing startup costs and increasing profitability. These kitchens also function as ghost kitchens and production hubs for our Cyber Chef team, who prepare personalized meals.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Inflation, high living costs, and proper disposal of recyclable waste are challenges facing many Nigerians. Over 90% of Nigeria's middle and low-income earners seek affordable, quality, and safe food options. Among them, 30% are busy private sector workers or individuals with special medical conditions requiring personalized meals. Despite this demand over 80% of the Nigerian population cannot afford food from established restaurants due to inflation, decreasing incomes, and high living costs. Additionally, those needing personalized meals lack access to platforms that provide such services. Consequently, many turn to unregulated local vendors, exposing themselves to unsafe food and health risks. StreetMate solves these issues by enabling millions of Nigerians to access quality meals via kiosks from repurposed shipping containers, an online ghost kitchen, and cyber chef services. We also accept recyclable waste as payment, transforming waste into tokens that meet daily food needs
