Describe your project or startup in a few words
The Lagos Grill project is a Nigerian themed barbecue and street food restaurant targeted at order and delivery of Nigerian street foods in a tray, hygienically prepared and attractively packaged in a variety of platter to events, offices and households.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
There are popular street food in Nigeria such as “Barbecue and boli (grilled plantain), Dundu (Fried yam/potato), Akara (fried beans)”. This food often times are prepared on the roadside without proper hygiene and may not be in line with health standards, which maybe difficult for a large number of people to want to eat it or uncomfortable to access. The purpose with Lagos Grill is to provide this dish in the finest of servings on a tray platter, finely packaged and sealed. The tray platter will be delivered to anyone who like to order at a time, just like what we have with pizzas or you can come into a proper local grill restaurant (sit in) which is more convenient and comfortable than on the gutter side road like we have in operation.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
I was surfing through the internet one day when I saw a post from someone bemoaning about buying boli and groundnuts on the roadside but always love to eat the food, and that post garnered some reactions from a lot of people. Hence, it became increasingly apparent that a lot of people will like to have a taste of the popular street food but would feel uncomfortable to be by the unhygienic street or junction where the vendor sits. Then I thought to myself to make a delivery service system for these street foods. I did my research and developed a recipe for an hot sauce and a pepper level standard for a barbecue meal targeted at Lagos people and made a product called “Lagos Grill Platter”. We started with marketing it on social media particularly X and Instagram, you can easily hit our DM to place an order and get it to your doorstep. The project is set out to solving the problem of unhygienic street foods and preservation safety.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
Food is a necessity, all humans must consume to stay alive and with varieties of food to choose from, the better for the body, health and environmental protection. This products are locally sourced and grown and the availability encourages local farmers and the production of this products into “Lagos Grill” can also effect the tourism industry through tourists attraction to the food packaging and the craving to taste what a local diet taste like. This will create job opportunities and help reduce poverty in the region of its establishment, local food is not predominant to any area every community has its own and having your local food in your area is a big flex so with multiple outlets in multiple locations means multiple jobs for multiple people.
