The world is in throes of sweeping population shift from the country side to city. Fifty-six percent of the world's population currently lives in urban areas. The global urban population is growing by sixty-five million annually. Consequently, more than seventy-five percent of global emissions originate from cities. For sustainability, cities are now transitioning to cleaner and affordable energy sources at a rapid pace and Verdroof is at the cutting edge of this transition agenda. Nearly ninety percent of emissions are now targeted for reduction under the net-zero agenda of 2050. Verdroof is on a mission to accelerate access to clean and affordable space on the planet. Our commitment is to empower people to live, work and play in the most resilient and sustainable cities.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Our cities are facing several challenges. Currently fifty-six percent of the world’s population lives in urban areas, but by 2050, two-thirds (6.5 billion people) of the world’s population is expected to live in cities. More than seventy-five percent of global emissions originate from cities. To stabilize the climate and limit physical climate risks, climate science tells us that it is necessary to reduce the addition of Greenhouse gases (GHGs) to the atmosphere to net- zero. Furthermore, the “International Energy Agency” estimates that reductions totaling 22 Gigatons (GG) will be needed to limit warming to 1.5 degree Celsius. The provision of fair access to quality space to live and do business is essential to the overall health of society.
