Made From Home is a food ordering delivery business that reimagines who can participate in the food service industry by giving access and reducing barrier to entry in the industry.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Made From Home is part of a growing movement to build a more inclusive food system for anybody that want to participate in the food economy. All players on the platform are local. From the chef, to the logistics players to the consumers. All interact within a 10 - 30kmkm radius of there location forming cluster system that can be adequately catered for. The goal of the project is to become a go-to platform for local delicacies all around the world but first we are starting in Nigeria, Lagos state. The system process is a simple one that utilized local chefs to prepare meal that are highly diverse and can only be found in homes, and get logistics personnel locally to deliver to local customers within a cluster. Winning strategy is the localization, accessibility to local chefs, and highly diverse local meals at affordable price We get 14% commission from chef payout and 6% from delivery at customer expense. All player operate within a cluster to facilitate fast service.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The main problem MadeFromHome is trying to solve is the lack of accessible and sustainable income opportunities for local chefs. Many talented chefs struggle to reach a wider audience and generate consistent income due to limited marketing resources, high overhead costs, and competition with larger, more established food businesses. Additionally, food enthusiasts often find it difficult to discover and access unique, high-quality local delicacies fast. MadeFromHome provides the platform for local chefs to be able serve their community by making them (1.) credible through food safety certification, (2.) Handling payment for them using the most secure processes, (3.) Exposing them to ready to pay customers within 10 - 30km of their location (4.) Providing logistics for them to deliver their food all in one platform For them (Chef) to be able to make sustainable stress free income while providing customers highly diverse menu that may not be found in walk-in restaurants
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).
(1.) MadeFromHome provides chefs with a digital platform to showcase their culinary talents to a wider audience to make sustainable income with no or little barriers at their available time. (2.) Highly diverse menu that can only be found in homes at an affordable cost for the customers. (3.) Food security (Accessibility) in the locality, that is 10km within each chef. (4.) Eco friendly food packaging material to reduce the introduction of non-biodegradable materials into the environment.

Independent Chefs and Home Cooks - Individuals like grandma, aunties or students who create high-quality, homemade meals but lack the resources or platform to reach a broader audience. This includes those who may have culinary training but do not operate traditional restaurants. Small Food Business Owners - Local chefs running small-scale food operations from home or small kitchens who need additional channels to market and sell their products. Busy Professionals and Families - Individuals seeking convenient, high-quality meal options that go beyond typical fast food or mainstream delivery services. Madefromhome offers a diverse range of homemade meals that can be easily ordered online.

Shukurat Bello is a Muslim, Computer Science master degree holder with five years of experience as a data professional across startups such as edtech, fintech. She has a great culinary stay at home experience. She has a great skill of using data to drive product roadmap and development, this she has used to help get our early adopters. Her great communication skills has helped in getting some audience with the food and safety agency of Nigeria. She is a great addition to the project.

Part of the food safety certification is to get chef to know the importance clean water in preparing menus. We also make sure we inspect the chef kitchen where they make food ourselves before they get activated to start posting menus. In the future we want to automate it with tech in a way where we can inspect virtually emphasizing clean water and sanitation in the premises.

06.08 Justification for my startup
There are platforms that work with establish restaurant to get food delivered to individuals. Our platform see a new audience that craves highly diverse local menus that can only be provided by local chef at an affordable price, We propose to use a highly localized technology (Progressive Web App) that forms clusters of chef in 10km distance to each other. So we have same audience with others, new product and new distribution strategy.

All the chef on our platform at the moment are female with 18 - 36 years. The chef registration form indicate the gender and we market the chef part to more female audience while running Facebook ads.
