01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
The Sefe Oboho foundation was founded on the basis of aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Under the Sefe Oboho Foundation, a project named The Green Earth in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria has been programmed to launch on September 2024. To reach underprivileged communities in Akwa Ibom especially the vulnerable, women, children, disabled and sick.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Akwa Ibom State lacks behind in providing for the community's urgent need. The masses of the poor and unprivileged people and children are increasing. They are now roaming in the streets with no where to go, no one to turn to, and no food for survival. Their hope for the future has been crushed because of their present and unchanged circumstances. Therefore, the project seeks a way to solve or at the least reduce the living standards of people in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your startup’s product/service is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Beneficiaries to the Green Earth project are the groups people affected by poverty, hunger, and lack of access to basic needs. This includes women, girls, children and indigenous people of Akwa Ibom State. In general, the low-Income individuals, people with disabilities, and vulnerable population of Akwa Ibom State. aim to ensure a healthy planet and a better quality of life for future generations

Akwa Ibom State, despite its oil wealth, faces significant challenges with poverty. We aim to connect individuals with skills training and job opportunities in growing sectors. Promote equal opportunities for education and healthcare, advocate for policies that address gender inequality and discrimination, empower marginalized groups to participate in the economy. Develop solutions for affordable housing, clean water, and sanitation facilities in underserved communities, support initiatives that provide access to healthy food and financial support. Focus on empowering marginalized communities like women, youth, or people with disabilities to overcome specific challenges that contribute to their poverty. Outreaches to the less privileged providing relief materials in order to reduce the rate of poverty. Partnering with local NGOs, community leaders, or government agencies to ensure that the solutions are culturally relevant and sustainable.

Locally, the majority of people suffer from chronic hunger. This has resulted in stunted growth, weakened immune systems, and decreased productivity. Food waste is a significant contributor, with roughly one-third of food produce being lost or wasted. The global market for food security solutions is vast, driven by rising populations, climate change, and increasing consumer awareness. Our approach positions us to capture a significant share of this market, by addressing a critical global issue, we attract investment with a strong social impact. Eradicating hunger is a complex challenge, but through innovation and collaboration, we can create a space where there's access to safe, nutritious food for all. To optimise existing food resources, reduce waste and get nutritious meals to the less privileged. Also empowering the communities with an experienced team, we’re confident in making a significant difference and creating a future where everyone has access to the food they need.

Most indigene of Akwa Ibom are inaccessible to basic necessities for good health and well-being, including, nutritious food, clean water and sanitation, affordable healthcare, safe housing, and education on health topics. This lack can lead to physical & mental (health) problems, and lower quality of life. The Green Earth projects aims to teach people about nutrition, hygiene, disease prevention, and mental health. Provide medical checkups, immunizations, treatment for common illnesses, and build hygiene facilities. The Green Earth project has the potential to create a positive ripple effect throughout the community to create a more empowered and resilient community and ensure that people live longer, healthier lives.

Factors like poverty, geographic location, conflict, or discrimination have limitations in accessing quality education. Without a quality education, children are disadvantaged in reaching their full potential and contributing to society. The project will be designed to be sustainable in the long term. The approaches adopted by this project are; increase enrollment rates in school, provide access to technology and learning materials, and promote inclusive education for all children. This involves partnering with local communities and organisations, training local teachers and volunteers, advocating for government support for education. Therefore, investing in quality education is one of the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for children. This is important as quality education provides children with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to thrive in a globalised world and contribute to economic growth and development.

Despite progress, significant gaps remain in achieving gender equality in Nigeria, and Akwa Ibom State is not exempted. The Green Earth project targets women facing economic disparity, education barriers and violence, based on gender. This project will target specific areas to promote gender equality directly and indirectly by empowering women’s access to capital to start or grow businesses. Education Initiatives by offering scholarships, and workshops to address gender biases in education and encourage girls' participation. Organise campaigns and educational programs to raise awareness about gender-based violence and promote positive social norms in Akwa Ibom State. Amplifying women's voices in leadership and decision-making. Investing in gender equality is morally correct as well as economically wise. This NGO project will play a vital role in creating a more equitable and prosperous Uyo for all.

Lack of access to clean water and sanitation facilities has led to a variety of health problems, including diarrhoea, cholera, and typhoid fever. The Green Earth project will work to improve access to clean water and sanitation in Akwa Ibom. Clean water and sanitation are essential for good health. By providing access to these resources, I will help to reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases. Children who are healthy are more likely to attend school and perform well. Clean water and sanitation can help to improve educational outcomes for children in Akwa Ibom. When people are healthy, they are more able to work and contribute to the economy. Clean water and sanitation can help to boost economic development in Uyo. Proper sanitation helps to prevent the pollution of water resources. This can protect the environment and public health.

Access to affordable and clean energy is critical for sustainable development. Many residents don't have access to reliable electricity and rely on expensive or polluting sources of energy, such as generators or kerosene. This can have negative impacts on health, the environment, and the economy. The project will focus on bringing affordable clean energy solutions to low-income communities in Akwa Ibom. These communities are often the most affected by energy poverty and lack of access to clean energy sources. Clean energy sources would reduce certain health risks. Traditional handicraft and artisanal skills are fading due to globalisation and mass production. This leads to loss of livelihoods, culture loss, and stagnant local economies. Online marketplaces are booming, offering artisans access to a wider customer base. Growing interest in sustainability and cultural preservation creates a demand for authentic products. The Green Earth project provides her services to a specific underprivileged population with unique needs. The focus is on building strong relationships with the community and empowering them to participate in solutions in which the project has to offer. An open and cost-effective analysis will be provided at each demonstrate a clear track record of using resources effectively.
