Describe your project or startup in a few words
A platform that identifies and connects users in need to urgent and emergency medical services (Hospitals, Ambulances, Personnel, Information and Credit) within 10 mins or less. This allows access to essential care for Africa's 1.5 BN people.
01.01 Describe your startup in more detail
Eight Medical is an end to end platform that identifies and connects urgent & emergency medical services (Hospital. Personnel, Ambulances, Information and Credit), to users within 10 mins or less. This enables access to essential care for Africa's 1.5 BN people. This is achieved by leveraging an efficient network of individuals, ambulances & technology to provide Urgent care, ambulance response, ambulance transport and ambulance standby services to our users. Since we started, we have been able to process 16,000 urgent and emergency requests, completed 12,000 missions and saved over 7000 lives in the process leveraging and working with a robust network of 352 responders, a fleet of 25 ambulances and 67 hospitals across 6 geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
We are solving the problem of lack of access to urgent and emergency services faced by 9 out of 10 Africans,” resulting in 5 million deaths yearly. This is as a result of a vast information gap, fragmented access due to poor infrastructure, and underutilized human resources (medical personnel) leading to unnecessary and avoidable deaths from road traffic accidents, heart attacks, maternal & child related complications, and climate-related emergencies. Our solution targets to two broad categories of end-users: On the demand side (Hospitals, Health maintenance organization (HMO’s) , members of the public, government, corporates, event planners, production companies, etc) users that require immediate and often recurring non-urgent, urgent and emergency care; On the supply side (Healthcare responders) who respond and earn income in the process We leverage our technology to empower a network of frontline medical responders (nurses, doctors, emergency medical technicians, paramedics)
