Ekarika-Jay ENERGYAFFAIRS is electrical firm that specializes in design, supervision and installations of electrical energy for homes and businesses. We harness renewable energy for standalone mini-grid in off grid locations to mitigates energy challenge

01.01 Describe your startup in more detail

Ekarika-Jay ENERGYAFFAIRS is an engineering firm which specialized in electrical designs, Supervision, installation, maintenance & repairs, sales of electrical materials and equipment for domestic, commercial and industrial clients. We also provide installation and maintenance of solar energy. Our mission is to connect every homes, offices, farms and businesses to electricity in both large scale and small kilowatts especially in locations where the grid are unavailable. We provide training in the areas of electrical designs, installation of buildings and solar designs and installation such solar street lights, solar inverter power systems, solar water pumps, repairs and maintenance of solar powered appliances and equipment.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

Insufficient grid supply, poor man power, quackery in the electricity supply chain, poor power infrastructure as hitherto crippled the agricultural, industrial and mining sectors and impedes Nigeria's ongoing economic development. High cost of petroleum product, environmental degradation has hindered growth and development. The world is now looking for a clean and sustainable alternative to our power needs. To help provide energy that protect the environment to households, businesses and industries, materials and humans resources needs to be harness in more productive, effective and sustainable way.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your startup provides (at least 3).

The benefits of the startup are enormous, but to mention but a few are: To begin with, in the areas of job creation, at has already a means of livelihood for more than four individuals. In addition, this project is helping especially other SMEs sustain business by providing them with stable power through solar energy. Also, with the installation of mini power generating unit, the national grid has been relieved of overload thereby stabilizing the entire energy grid. In conclusion, we can say, agricultural sector can produce more since the farm and industries that process the farm produce is supplied with stable energy, school and hospital are not left out.

The startup is to serve the entire populace who are in need of stable, efficient and affordable energy. Since we are professional engineer by training, it is important to look out for those who values standard and specification. Homes, offices, SMEs, Schools, Hospitals. The rural communities which do not have access to power from the national grid can be major beneficiaries as well as farm and factories

Access to reliable electricity drives development and is essential for job creation, women empowerment and combating poverty. This has been the driving force behind a number of effort to provide electricity to the rural communities of world. Energy poverty as we all know mean two things; the poor people are the least likely to have access to power and they are more likely to remain poor if the stay unconnected. it is worthy of note, as long as electricity challenge remain daunting in Africa, poverty will continue to ravage the continent. For example, street lighting provide safety and security, reduce crime and encourages healthy activities like sports after dark. Electricity is needed to power most basic services in health-care facilities, from lighting and communications to clean water supply. Reliable power is also crucial for the medical equipment necessary to safely manage childbirth and other emergency services.

Electricity access facilitates the introduction of ICTs in the classroom such as computer and televisions. A study had shown that access to electricity allows the access to lower- income people to lighting, communication as well as variety of educational delivery opportunities. As an alternative solution, renewable energy offers some hope as an economic boom from providing lower-cost electricity to generating reliable, stable and affordable power. There is extremely wide energy gap that requires attention. Over 60% of schools in Nigeria and other part of Africa are yet to get access to electricity. There's relationship between energy deficiency, poverty and underdevelopment, to take people out of poverty, electricity efficiency must be of utmost priority

There is large energy market that is yet to be penetrated, more investment is required, human and material resources needed to effectively tackle the problem of energy deficiency is insufficient.
