Our startup addresses indoor air pollution and deforestation in rural Malawi, inspired by the loss of my mother to respiratory illness from traditional cooking methods. Our 3-chamber biomass gasifier stove reduces harmful smoke emissions and uses locally available biomass like wood scraps and crop waste. With a 66% fuel efficiency rate, our stove saves families money and fuel, benefiting women responsible for cooking and fuel gathering. Its user-friendly design frees up their time for education and income-generating activities. We aim to mass-produce our stoves to make them affordable and accessible while continually improving safety, efficiency, and durability. To further reduce deforestation, we plan to produce biomass pellets as an accessible fuel source. Our project is about more than providing stoves; it's about creating a healthier future for rural Malawi by promoting environmental sustainability and empowering communities.

Our startup addresses two critical issues in rural Malawi: indoor air pollution and deforestation. Traditional cooking methods, like 3-stone fires, cause severe respiratory illnesses due to harmful smoke particularly affecting women and children, who spend more time cooking. The loss of a loved one to such an illness fuelled our desire for a solution. The reliance on firewood for cooking also contributes to deforestation. Our innovative gasifier stove tackles both problems. It reduces smoke emissions, creating healthier homes, and uses biomass like wood scraps and crop waste as fuel, reducing reliance on firewood. With 66% fuel efficiency, families save money and fuel. This frees up time for girls and women to pursue education and income-generating activities respectively. By promoting sustainable resource management and reducing indoor air pollution, our solution fosters healthier, more empowered communities and combats deforestation, creating a brighter future for rural Malawi.
