Describe your project or startup in a few words
We seek to provide digital healthcare solutions to facilities across Africa in underserved, low-income regions managing clinical & administrative processes manually & inefficiently via our robust, end-to-end software solution.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Our healthcare solution provides healthcare facilities with a suite of clinical features including EHR, doctor/nurse operations, lab, radiology & imaging, pharmacy, and inpatient. Records are accessed and updated electronically and can be printed for manual filing. This helps to streamline workflow, improve care coordination, and enhance data access for healthcare professionals. It also has supporting modules such as billing and claims management and higher-level administrative functions such as accounting & payroll.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
1. These facilities heavily rely on inefficient paper-based solutions which may lead to long queues, medical errors, and overall delays in access to critical services. 2. Lack of proper inventory management solutions makes facilities susceptible to theft by rogue employees. It may also lead to wastage or expiry of drugs as there is no efficient way to tell the drugs are nearing expiry. 3. Legacy solutions are often limited in functionality requiring separate software for each clinical need causing multiple disjointed systems and human error when transferring data between the various systems. Disjointed records from multiple sources also make it harder to correlate related data. 4. Legacy solutions in place offer very high initial purchase costs often catering to large facilities while locking out smaller facilities in underserved communities. 5. Paper records can be misplaced, stolen, or destroyed. There is a need for robust and secure access control mechanisms to protect data.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Our solution replaces inefficient paper-based workflows, improving efficiency and accessibility. Our access control mechanisms ensure that authorized personnel access only what they need. It is also end-to-end eliminating the need for multiple disjointed systems making drawing parallels between related data easier. Increased efficiency in the facilities in turn leads to reduced wait times and improved clinic availability, facilitating timely access to critical care for low-income individuals. 2. Improved reporting tools lead to better and more accurate reports mandated by the Ministry of Health which can aid the authorities in detecting looming pandemics, and disease outbreaks as well as taking action to prevent child mortality, death during pregnancies, etc. 3. Our solution can be deployed on-premise for complete offline accessibility or to the cloud as a SaaS solution. Combined with its scalability, our solution can cater to healthcare facilities of all sizes.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
We plan to focus on scaling our solution within low-income communities across various counties in Kenya. Our initial target will be healthcare facilities classified as levels 2 to 4, as these primarily serve low-income populations according to the KMPDC's classifications. Upon conceptualizing feasible models that can scale with facilities in low-income areas, we plan to begin piloting our solution in facilities across various counties in Kenya. We will also target level 5 and higher to provide revenue to finance business processes. There are about 12,000 facilities classified between levels 2 and 4. The ratio of facilities per 10,000 population was between 2.4 - 4.4. For each facility we deploy to, we have the potential to impact about 2,900 people. If we reach 100 facilities, we can impact the healthcare experience of almost 300,000 people. If we reach 1000, we can impact healthcare delivery to almost 3 million people.
