Describe your project or startup in a few words
Personal health assistant is a device for out of hospital patient monitoring, especially for cardiac arrest patients, diabetic , epileptic and asthmatic patients. The system combines a plethora of sensors and actuators to achieve its purpose.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Personal Health Assistant for Out-of-Hospital Patient Monitoring Introduction The Personal Health Assistant is a comprehensive monitoring system designed to assist in the continuous health tracking of patients with chronic conditions such as cardiac issues, diabetes, epilepsy, and asthma. The device utilizes various sensors to collect real-time health data, which is then displayed on an LCD screen and uploaded to ThingSpeak for remote monitoring and analysis. Objectives To provide real-time monitoring of vital signs such as heart rate, ECG, and other relevant health metrics. To log patient data on a remote server (ThingSpeak) for analysis and long-term tracking. Alerts and Notifications: To trigger alerts when abnormal conditions are detected, potentially preventing severe health episodes. User-friendly Interface-To display real-time health data on an LCD screen for easy access by patients and caregivers.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
The primary problem the Personal Health Assistant project aims to solve is the lack of continuous, real-time health monitoring for patients with chronic conditions outside of hospital settings. These patients often require close monitoring to manage their conditions effectively and to prevent severe health episodes. The key issues addressed by this project include: Continuous Monitoring Gap- Many patients with conditions like cardiac arrest, diabetes, epilepsy, and asthma do not have access to continuous monitoring once they leave the hospital. This lack of constant supervision can lead to undetected health deteriorations and delayed interventions. Emergency Detection and Response-Chronic condition patients are at risk of sudden health crises, such as cardiac arrest, diabetic shock, epileptic seizures, or asthma attacks. Without real-time monitoring, these emergencies might not be detected promptly, leading to severe consequences or even fatalities.
