Eco-mobile Ad bottles
Describe your project or startup in a few words
Our project is dedicated in promoting sustainable practices through innovative and eye catching advertising campaigns. Our primary focus will be on creating eco friendly bottles by use of water hyacinth.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Water hyacinth has been a major problem in some lakes such as L.victoria and L. Naivasha. The water hyacinth can be harvested and used to create paper that can be used to make a tetra pak. The tetra pak will be used as a mobile advertising location. Companies will pay subscriptions similar to billboards to have message places on the tetrapak side. The bottles will be given free to the public with water this will be possible as companies would have paid for them. The revenue collected from the companies will also be used to maintain the project. Also a % of the revenue collected will be used to provided meals to public for free. In return jobs will be created during water hyacinth harvesting, manufacturing and distribution of the eco friendly bottle. Also
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
There has been a rise in the number of plastics around the world. The plastics are choking the environment and contributing to the diminishing of some aquatic, land animals and plants. There has been also a rise in clogging of sewer lines because of plastics. The plastics are non biodegradable and our eco friendly bottles are biodegradable. As a result we are able to make our mother earth breath again.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
1. Getting rid of non biodegradable materials as our eco friendly bottles are biodegradable and will let the environment be clean and sustainable. 2. Reduction of water hyacinth in some of our lakes in Kenya. 3. By products of the water hyacinth can be used to make animal feeds. 4. Thriving of aquatic and land animals. 5. Thriving of plants. 6. Creation of jobs. 7. For the advertised companies they are able to have a tracking of number of people that have been able to see their advert. 8. Revenue to the government. 9. Reduce plastics dependancy
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

02.08.02 Decent work and economic growth - Justification
Water hyacinth prone areas depend on fishing and it has choked the lakes reducing fishing activities. This project will be able to make such areas thrive back economically. Manufacturing and distribution of the eco friendly bottles will also promote employment that results in growing our economy.
02.09.01 My project contributes to the Industry innovation and infrastructure
7 - Strongly Agree
02.09.02 Industry innovation and infrastructure - Justification
Material Choice: Using water hyacinth as a raw material for eco-friendly bottles is innovative. Water hyacinth is abundant, renewable, and often considered a nuisance in water bodies. Transforming it into useful products demonstrates creativity and resourcefulness. Environmental Impact: The project addresses environmental challenges while promoting sustainability. By removing water hyacinth from waterways, you contribute to ecosystem health. Simultaneously, creating eco-friendly bottles reduces plastic waste and minimizes the environmental footprint. Community Engagement: Involving local communities in harvesting and crafting water hyacinth bottles fosters community engagement. It empowers individuals, creates jobs, and strengthens social ties. This approach goes beyond mere production—it uplifts communities. Storytelling: The project tells a compelling story. It’s not just about bottles; it’s about transforming a problem (water hyacinth overgrowth) into a solution (eco-friendly bottle
02.10.01 My project contributes to the Reduced inequalities goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.10.02 Reduced inequalities - Justification
Employment Opportunities: Harvesting and processing water hyacinth involve local communities. By providing employment, the project directly benefits disadvantaged and marginalized groups. It empowers individuals who may otherwise face limited economic opportunities1. Community Empowerment: Involving local artisans and entrepreneurs in bottle production fosters community engagement. These individuals gain skills, income, and a sense of purpose. Empowerment through meaningful work reduces inequality1. Resource Redistribution: By utilizing water hyacinth, the project redistributes resources. It transforms an abundant yet underutilized plant into valuable products. This resource redistribution aligns with the goal of reducing disparities1. Environmental Justice: Water hyacinth often overgrows in water bodies, affecting vulnerable communities. By addressing this environmental issue, the project indirectly promotes environmental justice. It ensures that marginalized communities have access t
02.11.01 My project contributes to the Sustainable cities and communities goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.11.02 Sustainable cities and communities - Justification
The project focuses on creating eco-friendly bottles from water hyacinth. By utilizing this abundant resource, it indirectly contributes to affordable housing. When water hyacinth is removed from water bodies, it improves living conditions for communities living near those areas.Sustainable cities aim for resource efficiency. Water hyacinth-based bottles reduce waste and promote circular economy principles. They demonstrate how innovative materials can be used effectively while minimizing environmental impact.
02.12.01 My project contributes to the Responsible consumption and production goal
5
02.12.02 Responsible consumption and production - Justification
Responsible production involves minimizing hazardous waste and greenhouse gas emissions. The project’s focus on eco-friendly bottles ensures that waste generation, especially hazardous waste, is avoided or minimized.aims to integrate environmental sustainability with economic growth by decoupling environmental degradation from economic growth. The project achieves this by using water hyacinth, a renewable resource, to create eco-friendly bottles.
02.13.01 My project contributes to the Climate action goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.13.02 Climate action - Justification
SDG 13 emphasizes urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. The project contributes by utilizing water hyacinth to create eco-friendly bottles.under SDG 13 aims to strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries. The project’s focus on eco-friendly materials contributes to building resilience against climate impacts.
02.14.01 My project contributes to the Life below water goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.14.02 Life below water - Justification
Plastics harm marine life by ingestion, entanglement, and toxic contamination. Marine animals mistake plastic for food, leading to digestive blockages and malnutrition. Plastic debris can entangle and injure marine species. Additionally, plastic releases toxic chemicals into the water, affecting health and reproduction. Our project’s use of water hyacinth for eco-friendly bottles mitigates this impact by reducing plastic waste and promoting a sustainable alternative.
02.15.01 My project contributes to the Life on land goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.15.02 Life on land - Justification
Plastics harm land ecosystems by polluting soil, releasing toxins, and disrupting wildlife habitats. Plastic waste persists for centuries, affecting soil health and biodiversity. project is an innovative improvement over tetrapaks, addressing their limitations. It also extends advertising possibilities by using eco-friendly bottles made from water hyacinth.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Main competitors are the other advertising companies that are well developed and use digital billboards and other canvas billboards. I am also facing competition from one company outside kenya that uses paper cardboard to sell water. What sets me aside is this will be the first time advertisement will be available on an eco friendly bottle. Also my product will be free to the public and it will also provide free meals to the public funded by subscriptions from companies in need of adverts.
