The "Secure Me" initiative is a not-for-profit educational program targeting adolescents and young women aged 14-24 in Kenya. It aims to provide comprehensive IT and cybersecurity education, including software development fundamentals, to empower participants to navigate the digital world safely and confidently. The program addresses the digital divide and gender gap in cybersecurity by offering practical workshops, hands-on sessions, and a mentorship program. Through partnerships with educational institutions, corporate sponsors, and government agencies, "Secure Me" seeks to create a resilient community equipped to combat cyber threats and pursue careers in IT and cybersecurity.

The main problem the "Secure Me" seeks to address is the significant lack of cybersecurity education and awareness among adolescents and young women in Kenya, which exacerbates their vulnerability to online threats such as cyberbullying, online harassment, and privacy invasion. This issue is compounded by the broader digital divide, where access to technology does not equate to access to knowledge, leaving many young people without the skills necessary to protect themselves in an increasingly digital world. Additionally, the initiative tackles the pronounced gender gap in the cybersecurity and IT fields, where young girls and women are underrepresented.
