Describe your project or startup in a few words
The project aims at using phytoremediation to combat climate crisis and pollution and at the same time bringing economic benefits.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
Phytoremediation is a technology that uses living plants to clean up soil, air and water contaminated by hazardous heavy metals. My Project aims at establishing the source of these metals, determine their effects, especially the lead and find remediation procedures to be undertaken in polluted soils and deter future pollution.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Heavy metals contain high density and relative atomic weight. Their use in agriculture, industries, medical field and in technological applications has led to the introduction of these metals to the soil exceeding the desired limit and raising concerns on their hazardous effects on the human health and the environment.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Phytoremediation is highly effective because of the low initiation cost Phytoremediation is environmentally sustainable It brings economic value and helps in the fight against poverty because the trees can be sold to generate income.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
The project aims at reducing lead or other heavy metal pollution in the soil to protect children and adults who are at risk of suffering bodily harm because of the exposure. Also, the project aims at reducing lead pollution in the soil, air and underground water, preventing environmental pollution.
