Smart Auto Brooder is a technology gadget in poultry farming which will help reduce the deaths of one day chicks upto 7 weeks old. It ensures steady supply of temperature and uses eco friendly source of power making it efficient, reducing production costs

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

Smart Auto Brooder is a technology in poultry Farming. The machine helps in reducing the deaths of newly hatched chicks. It has a capability of protecting the newly hatched chicks 99.99%, hence reducing losses to poultry farmers. It is energy saving gadget, fully operated by solar energy. This reduces the cost of production to poultry farmers since solar energy can be tapped freely at any point. The gadget is economical too, easy to install and operate. This gadget will help farmers in both rural and urban areas who are used to the traditional method of using clay pots heated with charcoal to generate heat to the newly hatched chicks. Its also address the issue of disease control in poultry Farming. The gadget uses local materials for assembly and it's cost is pocket friendly to all farmers. With this guaranteed healthy chicks to grown birds the farmers will not be incurring losses as it was before due to extreme weather conditions which killed most of the newly hatched chicks.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

DEATH OF NEWLY HATCHED CHICKS Newly hatched chicks are prone to many factors which can instantly kill them hence causing losses to the poultry farmers. Through Smart auto brooder a farmer can monitor the chicks growth ensuring adequate care which is needed to avoid deaths. Also many farmers particularly in rural areas don't have access to electricity which has left them to use traditional methods which are cumbersome and the survival of the chicks is 50/50. Smart auto brooder requires small capital to install. It is easy use and it uses natural solar energy to operate. Also it will help the farmer control diseases to the chicks as they are in a clean environment. The temperatures are controlled by the computer hence ensuring steady and harmonious levels of temperature throughout. Environmental factors like extreme weather kills the chicks and this has caused heavy losses to the farmers.

1. Smart auto brooder ensures 99.99 % life to the chicks. Farmers won't count loses of their chicks. 2. Easy disease control. 3. Smart auto brooder uses solar energy which is free to tap and less costly to tap unlike electricity which is expensive. It is also eco friendly and no trees will be cut to burn charcoal for heat generation purposes. 4. Controlled nutrition to the chicks ensuring they are healthy as they grow.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

Smart auto brooder is for all poultry farmers. Mostly the rural large scale poultry farmers needs this gadget to maximise their profits in poultry farming. It will serve as a big booster in their poultry farming which will help them reduce the gap in the demand for the supply of poultry meat which is growing rapidly. Famers will be able to have healthy chicks which will translate to healthy grown birds ready for consumption.

Both my partners are agriprenuers. They have a wide experience in poultry Farming. They have both been in poultry Farming for 5 years consecutively.

05.08 Justification

My project uses renewable sources of energy unlike the expensive electricity and carbon emitting generators. It's innovative since it replaces the old charcoal method which was used earlier. This caused deforestation which is a factor in climatic changes. By introducing this new technology, it will address climate action gear towards zero carbon emissions.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

There are no competitors since it's my own innovation. The existing old ways are old fashioned unlike my project which is time conserving and cost effective.
