Big Universe Studios is a small company that was founded in 2022 by a group of film makers from korogocho slums in the hearts of Nairobi. Our project is to register the company buy filming equipments and run it like other companies.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

The project is to make Big auniverse go public in terms of film production since we have the man power but our challanges arises from equipments like digital cameras, boom mics, editing laptops, sound equipments and light equipments.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

1.lack of Filming Cameras, i have a challange of cameras since they are expensive in the market. We usually hire them but its also expensive since they are being hired on daily basis and if you do not manage to shoot that day it is still paid for which becomes a problem. 2.Sound equipments. Sounds is very important in film and very vital in film making process but the sound equipments prices tend to be high from boom mics, lapels and speakers 3.Editing Laptops. Editing in film requires very heavy and an editing machine with a good speed and processor. Laptop or desktop machine are ideal for the editing process which is key in film making. Laptops can also be used during script writing process and editing at any convinient process even when travelling. 3.lighting equipments, light is important in film and very key. The lights that sre used are also expensive are hiring then to but having one own lights can make the work easy and have no restrictions compared to the hired lights.

01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).

The world is moving into digital platform with the likes of facebook, X formarly Twitter, instagram and watsapp people are able to connect from different worlds and communicate and even share ideas in these platforms. Since i am a screen writer and a film director telling stories through audio visual is my passion communicating to the world through film us very sastisfactory to me.By educating the community on issues of corruption, education, early marriages, extraducial killings, rape and Hiv and Aids. Through filming these edutainment film we pass alot of information to the public at large which they can apply some of the things we tackle in these films. Making these films and screening them in the communities or even the informal settlements also motivates the community as many of the crews in these films are born and raised in the slums, this motivates the young generation who look up to them.

01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?

Our target audience is the teen, pre teens the young adults, adult, youths, parents, the community, government and Non governmental organisation. These films targets everyone since they talk about day to day life what is ailing the community the vices which the people need to drop. Every one plays a role in the community and need to be responsible in their action whatever the tribe, religion and gender old or young and these films targets the majority. The equipments can also be used to for teaching a number of young people who are interested in film making, acting or photography and Mass communication.

Nancy Wanjiru is an actress and a clothing designer, Nancy is also the Manager of the company. She is an experienced actor spanning more than 6 years in the industries and has worked in a number of projects. Lucy Wangui Kennedy Eboya is a graduate from Shangtai film school he is a videographer and a photographer a skilk he has perfected in years he is also a carpenter who makes sure the set design is in place. Stephen Karanja is an editor a video grapher and a photographer he has an experience spanning more than 20 years and he has worked with big names in the film industry he is well connected and understands how the industry works Lucy Wangui is an actress and a model she has worked in a number of non governmental organizations and she has a knowledge on health matters concerning girl child

Film making contains a number of departments which are Editing Script writing Set Designer Sound person Gaffer Make up artist Director of photography Location manager Vfx artist Prop manager and so on. When producing a film a lot of people are employed for a number of days till the production is completed. During the three stages of production namely Pre production, production and post production requires a number of personel which are involved and get payed if there is a consistency in film production this means the parties involved are employed on daily basis and this brings the rate of unemployment down.

We produce different films with different motives and Genre we do also produce documentaries which can be used as a refrence. Films produced to look at the effect of deforestation, global warming , farming and animal keeping are aimed at educating the farmers on the best practices to increase food security.

05.08 Justification

Streaming services do not offer the right content to the consumers ours is to bring authentic stories from Kenya which every person can relate to, our team is creative and innovative in terms of creating content which goes with the new generation.

05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?

Main competitors are streaming companies which are already established. The fact that we can reach the audience which are unable to pay the fee they charge for their streaming services. We also have authentic stories that are relatable for day to day life. Age restriction is key we take it serious and do not expose children to films which they are not suppose to consume.

Yes. In the organization we have female leaders who are heads in their respective positions.We also encourage then to become producers and film Directors.
