Describe your project or startup in a few words
This is an agricultural transformative project existing to solve the existing food insecurity challenges in Kenya and Africa through innovation and sustainable models.
01.01 Describe your project in more detail
My project exist to bring a new experience in the B2B and B2C agribusiness models. The first model B2B, seeks to bridge the exploitive middle men in the supply chain of agricultural products from the farmer to the retailer( Eden). The exploitive middle men dictate prices and also they highly select products and leave the farmers in distress where to take the remaining products that are said they are not fit in the market. Our B2B model seeks to ensure that what the farmers have produced are appreciated by the end consumer. This involves categorizing all products according to preferences. Like products such as onions, may times middle men come and say that only the medium sized onions are selling so they don't buy the rest sizes small and large onions. This increases post harvest losses and also creates a culture of selfish ness of self seeking. We are seeking to bring a model for all consumers. If the large onions are bought by Eden, then we sell to hotels.
01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?
Post harvest losses in the horticulture and agricultural products especially fruits and vegetables. We believe that Africa suffers hunger because we haven't identified ways to store and preserve food especially highly perishable foods. We also are here to solve food insecurity in matters of food Poisoning. In our country, we have had that certified products in the stalls are poisonous despite having government seals which is quite frustrating. We believe that food safety begins from the sowing of seeds. This food production chain and consumption must be certified and approved from trusted agencies. Through partnership with seed, fertilizers, pesticides companies and give to all our partnering farmers reliable products at an affordable price. We believe also employment is a culture to give back to our society. We exist to create employment opportunities to youths through these production chains from the farmer to consumer supply.
01.03 Tell us the major benefits and/or advantages of using the product/service that your project intends to provide (at least 3).
Food safety - we are creating a transparent system that a consumer can see the types of pesticides, type of seeds used and all it's production chain from the farmer to him or her through the website or a scan from the QR Code. All Food variety. Both indigenous and organic. You don't have to seek for products from one station to another.
01.04 Please describe who exactly your project is aimed at serving. Who are the targeted beneficiaries?
Mostly new suburbs which where government markets are not near on reach. Highly rise apartments where no competitive prices because there only one stall monopolizing and taking advantage of desperate clients.
01.05 When did you start working on your project?
2023-11-10
01.06 How many other partners are associated with your business venture?
15
01.07 Among the other partners, how many are female?
10
01.08 Please describe the profile of each of the other partners (skills, experience, etc.)
First five ( two women) who are my suppliers. Two men ( transport managers.) One cofounder ( male) Two distributors ( one female and male). Seven women are my retailers ( marketing and sales) Myself ( managing and vision) an Economist
01.10 Which industry best describes your project?
l) Agriculture
02.01.01 My project contributes to the No poverty goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.01.02 No poverty - Justification
Sustainability is the key to alleviate poverty. With a self sustaining and codependent system of agriculture and retailing, Eden seeks to ensure every family can afford to produce and sell. Any coin can make a difference in our model since our model will create opportunities for small scale farmers to produce and also employ other people .
02.02.01 My project contributes to the Zero hunger goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.02.02 Zero hunger - Justification
Organic food is an easy way to produce for anyone. By creating certified seeds and production units at affordable prices, I believe no one will not be able to produce. Also storage facilities will reduce post harvest losses which will enable highly perishable foods are well stored.
02.03.01 My project contributes to the Good health and well-being goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.03.02 Good health and well-being - Justification
By creating a transparent system from sowing of seeds and all inputs in the production units allows us to create an authentication pattern for every consumer to verify what they are consuming.

Not answered02.13.01 My project contributes to the Climate action goal
6
02.13.02 Climate action - Justification
Thinking climate, Eden has planned to dive into more regenerative agriculture, also using organic food production system we believe we have factored best climate responses as possible. I believe by reducing post harvest losses we have reduced emissions and also increased sustainability in the food production process. We cannot forget using systems like hydroponics systems I will allow us reduce soil disturbances and increase soil conditions which can be good for tree growing.
02.14.01 My project contributes to the Life below water goal
6
02.14.02 Life below water - Justification
Reducing wastage and increased transparency in food production will reduce unethical food production habits. Eden proposes to ensure farmers can store a lot of water reservoirs for irrigation which preserves water bodies and oceans. By engaging in partnerships that support organic farming, we are able to reduce water contamination by water wash of pollutants into water bodies.
02.15.01 My project contributes to the Life on land goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.15.02 Life on land - Justification
Allowing organic food production system, we reduce food Poisoning for both our live stocks and humans. Regenerative agriculture allows methods such as inter cropping which is combative way to reduce chemical pest control.
02.16.01 My project contributes to the Peace justice and strong institutions goal
7 - Strongly Agree
02.16.02 Peace justice and strong institutions - Justification
Gender sensitivity is one of the most key factor that ensures peace and justice in the world. Eden having actively engaged with 70% of partners as women we believe this is an approach to justice and peace. Inter country peace is also a factor we have factored by ensuring that this system can be adopted in every country and employ member countries and adopt cultures of residents without infringing their spaces.
02.17.01 My project contributes to the Partnerships for the goal
4
02.17.02 Partnerships for the goal - Justification

05.06 The product/service we envision creating responds to a demand or need that has not been satisfied by other products/services.
7 - Strongly Agree
05.07 The product/service we envision creating is a new version of an old product/service.
7 - Strongly Agree
05.08 Justification
Issues of certification of all products and partnerships with companies and organization are all services being offered but not to the entire grid regardless of size of farm land. Eden believes that fresh produce can be available to all regardless of distance from the farmer and also the farmer can account for all his produce being a source of livelihood and inspiration to create a nation and continent that is good secure.
05.09 Who are your main potential competitors and what makes you stand out from them?
Beyond Fruit - they don't offer product certification and verification especially fruits and vegetables. They don't give assurance if products are chemically produced. There is no farmer association and feedback on the produce. Only a few workers are employed on the retail outlets alone. Supermarkets. They mostly buy the most cheap suppliers but they never do quality assurance for all agricultural products especially the fresh produce.
10.06 Are you initiating actions within your community to promote the role of female entrepreneurs?
Yes. Working with female farmers and retailers. Employing expertise on marketing and management.
