Describe your project or startup in a few words

My projects involves purchase of steers from the arid areas during the dry seasons and feeding them with concentrates within to be sold within a period of three months for beef purposes only.

01.01 Describe your project in more detail

This project entails identifying those drought stricken areas where farmers lose their livestock because of lack of feeds and water and buying them to go and feed them under a zero grazing system within Nakuru county. We will feed them with concentrates,hay,provision of enough water within a period of three months that is like in 100 days they should be ready for market. After the 100 days elapses we will sell the steers to a Kenya meat commission and other slaughter houses at a favorable market price and then continue with the cycle.

01.02 What is the main problem you are trying to solve?

major problem we are trying to solve is job creation for the youth. if this project goes successful we will be in a position to employ at least for the start 5 people whom majority are the youth and women. Secondly creating a livelihood for the pastoralists, since we will be buying the steers from them. Also we will be avoiding lose of livestock to the droughts which adversely affect our target areas of Samburu ,Narok and parts of Baringo.

the benefit of using this method of steer finishing is that it uses small piece of land for a large herd of steers. There will be proper utilization of resources, environmental conservations as well will be taken care of since wastage will be recycled.

my project is aimed at serving the pastoralists communities wo are affected adversely by climate changes hence huge losses of their livestock when drought strikes.
